OT: Sean White Was Soberer Than I Was Last Night

TIFWIW... but I have had two completely separate members of the Letterman's Club call and tell me that they think that SW was set-up to have something like this happen. That they had people watching him just waiting for an opportunity to pop him... Gus wanted him gone.

I asked why they thought this was the case or why Gus would want him gone, and both responded that there was a fear that the locker room was starting to turn and was wanting a change to be made at QB.

That very well could mean that Gus's paranoia is playing with his head again, and he is hearing things that aren't being said... or it could mean that the players no longer have confidence in their coach and his ability to give them the best chance to win.

Surely this cannot be the case, right?... right?
i have a hard time believing this. There are too many other ways to have taken care of this if they wanted him gone. Chip could have had the "talk" with him over the summer like he had with woody and JF'n3

Gus prob blames SW for killing JJ's confidence. Seems like Gus never wanted to play SW much like he never wanted to play JF3. Don't know why, but that is the impression that I get. I am not sure that I would believe Gus set the kid up. Would I believe that maybe Gus got a courtesy call from the station and told whomever to throw the book at the kid, yes I would.
Gus strikes me as the type who has spent no energy on getting a good working relationship with local cops.

I think this probably happens in college athletics a decent amount, but consider me skeptical that Gus is smart or savvy enough to pull something like that off.

I am absolutely not sold that this was the case... but just figured I would pass it along. It was a topic of conversation amongst some of the Letterman though without a doubt.

Regarding the other "make it go away" options... you really think that Chip or Gus had any inkling that the offense wouldn't just be humming right along with JS? They wouldn't have had a reason to want him gone, until people (some players included) started voicing or showing their frustrations with the lack of production from the offense.

The most important part of this story, to me, is that Gus has lost the support of the Lettermen.

gang, I was totes wrong on this prediction.

Me too. If Gus had played Malik against GaSo I wouldn't have been so adamant. His stupidity never ceases to amaze.

On the @brazilnut news, I can't believe that. He's failed multiple drug tests and has a reputation all over town. Dude didn't even work out for two years when he got to town. If Gus wanted him gone he could've used those tests or multiple other reasons as an excuse.

I think Gus knew he absolutely needed him to keep his job last year so he covered a lot of things up. Now he has stidham, and he he may think Willis is better, so he told him to piss off. It's so inconsistent and I think it shows how Gus is really only looking after himself.
