OT: When will AU fans start to admit Jay Jacobs was one of the best things to happen to Auburn?

An AD was hired, who spent his first 5 years trying to make things as difficult as possible for the HFC - at a Football school. In fact, that was part of his job description given to him by the people who hired him.

He was hired after being incompetent at running a small part of that AD. He was hired after a "Nationwide Search" where numerous Superstar quality interested candidates were not given consideration. He spent his tenure promoting the incompetent and hiring ever more people and expanding the Org Chart because he and his chosen underlings were not able to fulfill the duties of their positions, so other people were hired to fulfill those duties.

Under his tenure, the football and basketball teams both had the worst seasons in school history, and indeed some of the worst in SEC history. The Football team did win a Natty, using 90% contributors recruited by the coach he ran off. The baseball team was seldom to never competitive. The basketball team had 1 good season, but due to his ineptitude at scheduling and politicking, became the first P5 conference school in history with 22 wins and a 10 league wins to be snubbed by the NCAA Tourney. He fired that coach a year later, despite never delivering promised facilities improvements (worst in major conference Bball), and his having been hampered by the start in recruiting by past mismanagement of Compliance.

Under his tenure, the most successful coach in school, state, and possibly SEC history resigned without ever having promised facilities improvements delivered. Most of his coaching hires were abject disasters, the main qualification among most being some nebulous tie to the school in the past. Of those with no previous tie to the school, most were grossly incompetent and/or proved have some bizzarre personality disorder. One was a legit deragnged psychopath, who he never bothered to vet. Most of our programs became mired in off the field scandal, serious scandals involving Title IX, sex assaults, serious legal trouble, rather than minor recruiting infractions. Most of our programs fell way behind the competition in facilities.

He engineered a bold masterstroke in hiring Bruce Pearl, who absolutely did Not "fall into his lap". But his tenure will be most remembered for the absolute reign of the GOB Network, and the plundering of our AD for cronyism and personal profit.

For some reason I don’t remember you screaming “shitty hire” after either one. Awful comparison. You know it. But I said reasonably....

Well since I wasn't posting on tbb when they were hired, you probably don't remember anything I said about it. It isn't a bad example at all.

With Golloway I liked the fact that he had a decent resume, but I wasn't excited about trying to play small ball. I don't like small ball with aluminum bats in the SEC, BUT that isn't the point anyway. The point is that the AD has to do his due diligence. Golloway getting into it with players and not keeping his dick in his pants wasn't new information, so if that's going to be a problem then you SHOULDN'T FVCKING HIRE HIM. That's why I used the Lane reference.

The problem with the Barbee hire has already been explained. If you knew you weren't going to give him the one thing he needed to be successful, then it's an awful hire.

Please explain how BRUCE did not fall into his lap.
This is such a bizzarely stupid idea - explain how he did? A coach with no previous tie to the University or area, who was considered way too good for our program, who was still under a Show Cause when hired (which took some vision and guts to do)

A couple of AU boosters dropped him in Jay's lap, tied some monetary strings to Jay hiring BRUCE and all Jay had to do was say Ok and play the PR monkey. Jay negotiated in the only way his yokel brain operates and stipulated Chuck be on staff for OBBERN ties.

Are you under some misconception that Jay went out on his own and decided to hire BRUCE?

lol its funny because its sadly true. Jay was the worst thing we could've had for an AD, he couldn't get out of his own way or we'd be a national powerhouse instead of "in the conversation" watch the young buck just "get out of the way" and see what happens. Gravy train is over for the gobn (hopefully) and Auburn can move forward.

Radkovich was extremely attainable at the time Jacobs was hired. Collectively, TPTB had more interest in fighting over who was King Yokel than they did working towards OBBERN being elite.
