Darius Slayton only has 4 more catches on the year than Nate Craig Meyers.

I’m guessing he’s had significantly more targets though.

Was just sifting through some stats and Darius only has a whopping 13 grabs on the year. Blew my mind for some reason

Keep in mind, he missed two or three games with an injury.

Yes. Forgot about that. But he’s played in 6 games and only has 13 grabs. So without injury maybe he only has 17 on the year instead.

Still just find it odd for some reason. I don’t think he’s awful like some people do. In fact, I’d like to get him the ball more on those quick screens that he housed

That's terrible for the number of times he has been targeted. So many drops, but also a handful of bad throws from Stidham.
He’s also made some crazy good catches. The one vs LSU was insane and he made a very difficult grab against Ole Miss as well.

My real only gripe is that Sal Cannella has more targets than NCM. I’d also like to see McClain take those snaps instead of Sal as well. Cannella is garbage

Remember when a certain mod on the boog said Cannella would be a game changer? LULZ

Apparently he was great in fall camp, but that hasn't translated into a real game. Its hard for me to fault someone who thinks a WR will be really good when he is playing so well in practice.

I too like Slayton and surprised the catches are that low. he has had some bad drops, but I think of him as a better version of Coates

Slayton is an alum of my HS so I am biased. I would like to see NCM get some more targets though. I think that dude is definitely an asset.

I cannot understand the lack of use of NCM. At the very least you should have a handful of plays where you feel good about getting him the ball. He should be a target for fades for sure.

He must be a great kid, because he's seemed to play hard, block hard and give good effort despite being ignored in the passing game for games at a time. I'd have been hard pressed at his age to keep it together.

I don’t remember anyone hyping up Cannella. I thought Gus would throw fades to him in the RZ like he did with Duke, but that’s about the only contribution I expected of him.

Who was saying that he was great in the summer? Jgt or Bmatt posted a video interview with Larry Porter over the summer where porter basically said Sal needed a ton of work

That was said by multiple people who attended practices.

Some people who saw every practice said he was getting a beer gut which means he wasn’t working hard. Not every kid is like Bo and can excel without working. That should’ve been a red flag to those who thought he was so great.

I don't think a beer gut can tell you that a player who looks great catching the ball in practice, literally can not catch 70% of the balls thrown his way when they hit him in the hands or between the numbers.

I agree on the "he was so great" comment though.

Pettway had an interview where he hyped him up

Take anything “practice related” or any personnel decisions Gus makes with offensive skill players with a huge grain of salt.

If we were given a peek behind the curtain to see what each of our players does in practice to “earn” playing time relative to others, I’d wager many of us would be terrified.
