I can’t contain my excitement so let’s just get this one started. Monster matchup in Jordan Clam West on Wednesday. Unfortunate news for bama as they’ll be without their starting big man. They still got a nice win @LSU to keep their season alive.

I’d like to present some advanced metrics to illustrate how big a loss Hall is for them and how much we have them outclassed all over the floor.

I don’t entirely know what these mean but anything over 15 is good and over 20 is exceptional. 25+ is ridic. These are just for SEC games.

From a matchup perspective, we will have some difficulties defending Sexton and keeping him from getting to the hole. With that comes the concern of foul trouble on the bigs and his ability to find their bigs when we help off. Forcing him to give up the ball and denying him the chance to get it back might be something we look to do early. Gotta keep up with Key and Petty and not let them get too comfortable shooting the 3.

I think we need to attack Sexton on the defensive end and use his aggressiveness on the offensive end against him. He plays out of control at times and picks up too many charges. Just need to keep him frustrated. LSU sped him up all night, and he had 9 turnovers. He’s a damn good FT shooter so we need to try to limit his attempts there.

If we can control Sexton and force their other players to beat us, I think we will be fine. Just don’t like going to their place first. Not expecting us to get a fair shake. So we’re probably going to have to beat the officials too. There will be a ton of emotion in the building, which might actually help us get off to a better start. But they’re going to be so hyped for this game. Gotta keep our composure and keep playing our game. If we play decently well, we should leave with a W.

unless they play well above their heads offensively and we play below ours, they can’t score enough to beat us...

Sweet Jared was high school teammates with Sexton... I fully expect him to have a little extra chip on his shoulder and mentally bedowngrade Sexton, control the pace, and play him like a fiddle on both ends... doesn’t mean he will outscore him, or Sexton won’t get his, but the efficiency difference should be stark, and heavily tilted in our favor

Sexton is a lottery pick and absolute stud... and we will still have the best backcourt on the court

So take Hall off the board and that's a yooch gap between their 1 & 2. Their #2 being at 16.7 and all the rest below 15 makes for a rough matchup compared to our sexy ass Boogz. Especially considering every one of our boogz are over 16 aside from Mitchell and our top 4 over 21 with our top Boog at 27!

Like you, not sure just how much we can read into those numbers, but it certainly looks to me that even if Hall was playing, our 9 Studly as fugg Boogz skraight up out class their top dozen Sideshow Bobs... like, by a lot.

Have not watched one second of Bama.

Boogs by 9

Only watched them for a few minutes when a poster on tbb made fun of several of their players' hair styles.

I would have trouble washing my hair if it was dreaded up top, but other than that, I like their hair--:).

Also, watched them a little against LSU Saturday night and wondered if LSU left their team in Fayetteville.

Blaze ON Harvey!!

I’d love to see us get Sexton in foul trouble. He fouled out against LSU. No doubt Jared can get him on an offensive foul. Kid is relentless but we beat him to the spot and draw a charge somewhere. I don’t think they’d be able to function at all with him off the court even though Avery Jr has been playing ok.

Sweet Jared was his teammate and Young Davion is the same age and from the same state so I’m assuming they’ve had youth, high school, and AAU wars since they were 11-12 years old... that doesn’t include Bryce, who is our best defensive option... we should be as prepared as anyone he’ll face all year

rewatched the clip from his AAU battle with Davion from summer 2016... is it me or does Davion’s jumper look much more fluid in this clip? no hesitation, not as much thinking, not nearly as mechanical... his current form has a longer, clumsier, more pronounced, gather move that he doesn’t have in the clip... I’d guess it’s just a confidence thing, but when he gets that figured out he’s going to burn down some poor souls

Yeah he looks a lot more smooth there. Needs to spend an afternoon with MALIK and just rise and fire if he’s gonna shoot.

He's always on the edge of being out of control. Feel like a lot of this game goes into how the refs call fouls. Are they going to give charges for him shoving off? Will they call us for tick tack fouls on him? If both of those questions are answered in the wrong way for us it's gonna be a long, frustrating night.

The foul they called late on LSU where Sexton jumped backwards into a defender jogging down court...not the normal "stop and let him run into you" but he actually jumped and extended his arm into a defender trying to avoid him and got the call....that call would have me ejected and suspend for 10 games if I were Will Wade. If Sexton can do that all day you cannot win. He's too good from the FT line and you send him the message that he can get there that easily and he's going to take it.

Am I wrong to think we are a bad matchup for them and asong as we contain Sexton and the refs don't get too carried away we easily win by 10?
I think we will be up for the game, outside of MSU we have played well on the road, and I just see anfernee having g another bad gameike he did Saturday.

I'm trying to figure out how they out rebounded LSU 40-24. The number of shots wasn't that different, so that doesn't explain it. For whatever reason, they killed the on the glass without Hall. They beat South Carolina on the board the game before too, though they had Hall for 7 REBS that night.

Those numbers from the LSU game make no sense. Did they just make the extra effort without Hall or was that some kind of one-off that never happens again? Pretty big part of the game so I'm curious what the real answer is.

Even so it was still fairly close and LSU ist't good. They got lucky on a few shots in a few games but with a rebound differential like that you would think bama would have won it more.
Bama will prob start hot so just got to keep it decent the first 5 minutes.

Hoping Avery used his “we’re undermanned” speech before this game. Big win for them no doubt. LSU has been surprisingly good this year so we can’t use the “they’re no good” line IMO. Last thing we need to do is try to take away from that win. We need to come out sharp and take their crowd out. Will be harder to have one of those 25 points in 10 minute swings we’ve had against the Mississippi schools.

Nah, I don’t think so. I think that’s why Bruce has had Avery’s number since Avery arrived. Our style is a bad matchup for Avery. He doesn’t handle it well on either end. It’s why we’ve beaten them like we have with lesser talent the last two years. Now we have a more talented team and a style that’s a bad matchup. Which means we will probably lose because.

Just looking at the box their 3 starting guards had 23 boards. Ingram 10 Sexton 7 Jones 6. Makes no sense and I don't see that having any carryover.

Is it possible this game gets postponed? If AU isn't in West Vance by this afternoon I'm not sure they can get there. I don't think they'll cancel the game because the crowd would be only locals and students, but they can't play the game if AU can't get there.

Kinda want to see them without Hall one time if we could. Though I'd also like to catch them on a 3 game skid so they are fighting each other and Sexton is trying to stack up stats because he's done playing for Avery and just wants to upgrade his draft stock.

I thought I read where Auburn was leaving at 10 AM today to beat the potential issues.

It's supposed to clear out this evening right? Surely even a state as embarrassing as AL can salt major roadways.

Depends. It's gonna be hella cold in the teens so nothing is melting. If it's like 2014 there isn't any amount of work they can do now that would free up the interstates and I sure as hell wouldn't take a team bus anywhere. Now if we just get 1 inch of snow and not snow/melt/form sheet of ice then yeah they should be able to rebound from that rather quickly.

I doubt it will be like 2014 again, but that's what stuck in everyones mind and I'm not sure Minnesota would have handled that day well.
