Boogs v Bama

I know we don't want to lose this one, but this feels like a must win for them and especially for Avery. Not that he's gonna get fired or anything, but he's gonna start losing some credibility with parts of their fanbase and that can be difficult to recover. They fired the last guy for being around a .500 coach in league play. He's lost 3 of 4 to the Boogs. With all that went on just before the season, he was supposed to have a top 4 seed in the NCAA's and now he's on the bubble all while Bruce has the team that the southeast is buzzing about instead.

He's been spinning the results of this season as soon as people started asking about it in pressers and you can tell he really is pissed off it's come up. He's very touchy about it. That's a bad look if you can't start producing. Those comments are the kind that we get pissed at Gus for, but with more bitterness on Avery's part. He desperately needs to get that W at home.

It'll be really interesting to see how much media pressure will follow him into next season if they do miss the tourney. He should have a pretty good team next year too even with sexton gone.

I watched the whole clip minute. He said it in a complimentary way but addressing with the words he used make it sound like Bruce is a bit in his head. I seriously doubt Bruce knows the slogan for the 2018 Bama team.

He’s definitely feeling the heat. Their season has been a disappointment so far and that’s only magnified by a billion with our success. It’s a damn shame they beat LSU or they’d be on full blown implosion watch with an L tomorrow.

That why lil Ave will never in his turd career have the turds sitting all alone atop the SEC with a 16-1 (4-0) record in mid January like The Bruce.

Correct. A loss from the best team in the SEC wouldn't look as bad. Also one of the top 17 in the nation.

I have not been paying attention to Bama basketball pregame tweet graphics, but I hope they take turns rotating players on who gets to ride the elephant before each game.

It'd hilarious if other team members got jealous bc they're not getting deified on an elephant like Colin.

Yeah that would be fugged up to not include the other guys. Ours can just be Pat Keim launching a 3 ball.

Here’s a traffic report from MIKE:

Right now 280W is closed in both directions by Dadeville. Talked to a police officer and he said a bunch of semi-trucks had jackknifed across the highway at various spots. Road was all ice. They are working to get the trucks removed and put sand/salt down. I asked him how long it was going to take, and he said it was going to be awhile. I said what's awhile? He said I'd find a different place to go. Sounds like 85 isn't much better with portions of it closing. -

Should be a low turnout. Hopefully the officials and TV crew have made it to town.

I don’t think we have to keep Sexton from scoring. We just have to make sure he doesn’t score efficiently. And if he scores 30 on 12-30 shooting, I’m ok with that. The best thing we can do is get him in foul trouble early. Bryce will be the primary defender, but I would love to see Jared get a shot at him. He’s a pro at drawing offensive fouls and I think he could get Sexton frustrated. At the least, look for Harper to step over in help side defense to try to draw a couple of charges. Gotta play team defense on Sexton.

The loss of Hall means the size disadvantage won’t be quite as pronounced. So we should hold our own in that respect.

Ultimately, we are just a better team and if we play our game and avoid too many mistakes, we win. I think it is a close game but our depth and FY shooting help us pull away the last 5 minutes or so. I’ll say good guys by 10, but it’ll be a good game.

I’m wondering how much we can put Bryce on him. Can Jared cover Herb Jones or Petty? I guess giving up height on the perimeter isn’t that big a deal. Doubt their gonna go to the block or anything. I expect Harper to be on Sexton a lot though.

My basketball coach in high school took us to 3 straight state championship games by leaving the top scorer on each team alone and making life hard for the next 2-3 scorers on the team. His philosophy was that if you make a team into a 1 man team, they can never beat you. “The man” would typically feel the pressure from having to do everything himself and would collapse at the end. He would usually have a season high game, but no one else was helping him so it didn’t matter. I could easily see this philosophy working against Sexton/bama. jmo
