Guilty of stirring the pot am I.No more discussing Sonny from me. Turns this board to tBB, and I don't want that
I think pitching-wise we are going to be ok in SEC play, but I'm not sure how our bats are going to look against decent SEC arms.

I think our hitting will be fine. But we have had some issues leaving guys on base. We score 31 runs this weekend, but left 32 on base
I’m just the opposite. I’m much more concerned with our starting pitching than our bats. We need Daniel and Burns to be huge all season to be a better than .500 SEC team IMO. A lot to ask, especially from the Freshman.
I think yall are looking at what we have done hitting-wise to lesser schools. These schools have all had at least one pitcher that made us look bad for a period of time. The guy last night was a soft lefty who maxed out around 88 and he made us look silly quite a bit. Just watching our approaches at the plate concerns me that when we see a team with a stud we are going to struggle. Also, your hitting wont "be fine" if you are stranding a lot of runners against great pitching staffs.
Pitching-wise I feel better because it looks to me like the bullpen has made some strides. I feel good about Mize on Friday nights and Burns on Sunday. If we were asking Burns to throw on Friday or Saturday I would be more concerned, but even as a true freshman he is a solid Sunday starter. I'm not completely sold on Davis on Saturdays, but I wouldn't be shocked if that ended up being Davis for 3 or 4 innings, Mitchell for 3 or 4 and then someone like Coker or Greenhill closes us out.

Good post from you. My concerns are still what they were pre season. I’ve not really drawn any conclusions from the first 8 games. (Other than maybe that Williams is a potential stud pony). We have a very talented pitching staff. Just not a lot of experienced, successful starters. I’ll worry about this until the SECT starts.
Lefties, especially soft lefties, were our big nemesis last year. Seems to be the case again this year. Junk ballers seem to give us a lot of trouble.
So any struggles this season are Golloway’s fault?Yeah we have a chance to be good, but this is the year that missing an entire class from Golloway should hurt us.
Well of course. Sure as hell won’t be Butch’s fault. Can’t be. Totally impossible. So any struggles this season are Golloway’s fault?
To be fair, Bruce replaced Tony Barbee. Butch replaced a long-time successful coach with a huge track record of success that was rumored to “not get along” with the snowflake travel ball parents surrounding our program and who was actively undermined by our own AD.I’m pretty sure everyone in this thread was willing to give Bruce a few years bc of Barbee’s shit croots and crazy attrition. Not sure why depth concerns can’t be placed on Sonny’s mismanagement if they do really exist

I can’t identify Butch or Sunny or current or former Softball coaches.I like Butch. I don’t think I would recognize him if he walked right in front of me, but seems to be a good coach
You claimed to have played college baseball if I remember correctly. If you were on a college team that missed an entire class of players; would that be a positive or negative impact?
More excuses. What also has to be remembered is when Butch was hired. Yes, Butch is starting his 3rd year as our HC, but he was hired just a week or two before the early signing period where as most coaches starting their 3rd year were hired 9-10 months earlier. This past November was just two years removed from him being named the head coach at Auburn. His first team had ZERO people that he recruited. So the freshman class on campus right now is really his first class. Butch did a great job on short notice fielding a solid class (relying heavily on JUCOs) right after he was hired.
More excuses.
Auburn is ranked 25th by Baseball America after the 8-0 start.
Weren’t we ranked like 6th or something last year before the collapse?Auburn is ranked 25th by Baseball America after the 8-0 start.
I wonder when the last time Auburn/USA played and both were ranked (if its ever happened)

Sonny was a rat faced loser
Butch is much better but blew a golden opportunity to maybe get to Omaha last year.
The sport bores me particularly compared to men’s softball.
Should I remind him that Sunny has arguably a more successful career than our beloved Bruce at this point?Get'em @Slippin Jimmy
Don't even think about it hoss.Should I remind him that Sunny has arguably a more successful career than our beloved Bruce at this point?

I thought our beloved Bruce Pearl had won a national championship as a head coach........no?
D-II doesn’t count. Feel pretty confident he’ll get a real one soon, though.I thought our beloved Bruce Pearl had won a national championship as a head coach........no?
