I went to about 25 games during the 2005 season

It was my last season in college. My buddy and I were gonna road-trip as many away games as possible. Nothing was more demoralizing than that. He had scholarship tickets so of course I went to get the free food and hob-knob with mildly successful people.

One depressing thing was when Charles Barkley came to one game, and there were so few people there you could just walk up to him and say hello and shake his hand. You could tell he was like “WTF this is terrible”

I want to say the last game of the season was against bammer at bammer.

I don’t know what it was, but even the bammers felt sorry for us. It was the last road game of the season and one lady next to us said “Bless your heart” and patted our arm as they booty-blasted us.

Last dumb anecdote about this season. I had seats directly behind Bobby Lowder. He sat directly in front of me. He and his wife had the smallest head and neck combinations I have ever seen on people. Couldn’t have weighed more than 220 lbs collectively.

Anyway, he came to a LOT of basketball games for such a terrible season. But I noticed the games he wasn’t there, there was usually a rotating group of middle class regular folks in his seats. I thought it was cool that he probably gave regular people his tickets.

I've been a season ticket holder since 2012, and been going regularly to Boog basketball games since Barkley was playing. I've seen a LOT of terrible Boog hoops, with some really good sprinkled in. Back in the Barbee days, I had to self medicate before the game just to make it through without KMS.

I never made it to Barbee era games. Living in Huntsville and had a kid made it hard. I did, however, meet him at one of the meet and greet events. He was very nice, and actually talked with me and some buddies about the recruiting class coming in. He spoke of them like they were the Dream Team come to life. Went through every name to me and my buddy.

That class:

Benas Griciunas
F Henderson, NV 6'9" 200 0

11/13/12
Ronald Delph
C Bradenton, FL 7'0" 225 0

11/13/12
Tahj Shamsid-Deen
G Decatur, GA 5'10" 150 0

9/13/12
Chris Griffin
F Mount Carmel, IL 6'7" 227 0

4/15/13
Matthew Atewe
F Fitchburg, MA 6'9" 230 0

4/10/13
Dion Wade

I’m still a TSD fan. Kid was a warrior. Not even sure who the rest of those dudes are.

maybe bprockman but he seems like kind of a douchy old fatty. could be wrong tho.

Off a bit about BP. He is a fine person and very fun to be around. Not old-to me he is young.

I am more as described-sans the douche part.

Blaze on 1492, Blaze ON!!

I was in school from Fall 02 to Fall 06. I got to see Marquis Daniels single handedly win us some games. Some crazy Brandon Robinson dunks. Then we got into the Jeff Lebo era, and I was excited because we were running some advanced stuff on offense, but obviously there were less and less exciting moments.

I've never been able to make it to many games, but I've watched boog hoops since the mid to late 80s thanks to my pops. I was not super into it during the late Lebo years but back interested when Barbee came on board. It was evident quickly he was not the answer, so I only watched here and there until BRUCE.

So you didn't call and get a refund on your tickets like you said you were going to do?

I did for most of them, but the scholarship tickets I kept. I dropped 10 tickets at the announcement as my frustration reached an all time high. @BigtimeAub will be sitting at half court in them with me Wednesday. Have you guys ever thought about not being douchebags?

So maybe you don't deserve this season.

What does that even mean? Because I dropped 10 tickets out of frustration, while still donating more in a year than most have in their lives I don’t deserve the success of the basketball team?

How upset was the athletic department when you cancelled the least important or expensive part of your annual ticket order?

They weren’t at all. They knew I was frustrated and it was a very easy process. I arguably have the best seats in the stadium outside of floor level, as it’s aisle seating at halfcourt. No way I’m giving those up.

I'm glad you have your tickets, but when you lashed out in frustration at the bad news and horribleness of the AD you made next to nothing in terms of personal sacrifice that justified bragging about how you cancelled your tickets.

Its the equivalent of Michael Scott saying that money means nothing to him and crumbling a dollar bill and then putting it back into his pocket.

I would say of all the gushing he did, he was far most excited about the dudes from Nevada that scored like 2 points a game and didn't start.
Barber recruited better than what he put on the court. His problem was retaining them. I bet half of the kids he signed never made it on the court.

You think I don’t know that? The boog runs deep in my family. We’ve been season ticket holders for 60+ years. Only about 50-100 families could really get the AD to change things, and most of them would never relinquish the power and information we receive. I belong to the message boards to bitch. Right or wrong, that’s why I’m here. My friends/family/clients don’t want to hear it, so I take my anger out on here.

I have always watched AU basketball. Been going to games with my dad since forever. Was in school in the lebo years and had class with a bunch of basketball players one semester. Rasheed Barrett hated lebo which was odd to me bc he was one of the better shooters and got to take a lot of shots. Vot was quiet mostly but he could be funny.
I was excited when we hired barbee bc it looked like a good hire on paper for Auburn. We severely outkicked our coverage getting Bruce though. I’m glad he was desperate haha.

Fair enough. I'm glad you kept the scholarship tickets and pay the TUF fees associated with them.
