Less pressure to be successful, and the thousands of free drinks and meals that good looking girls get in their 20s means they can afford to "do nothing" for a few years and no one thinks less of them if they want to take that path. As a man in today's world if you're not grinding hard you're not going to make 6 figures by 30 and if you're not doing that you can't afford a family or in my case I'd be dead before I achieved my goals if I just took some time off. It's a longer personal story for me that I won't say here but just suffice it to say society places different expectations on men. Especially in our 20s - 50s.

I guess. Id need at least 100k to support a wife and a kid. My brother in law makes half that and they can't afford shit. I made more than he did by 24 and hes damn near 40. That's what you get when you waste your time.
Well, I guess I broke all the rules of societal expectations and never really thought twice about whether taking time off was accepted or not accepted in the eyes of society.
My brother has four kids, a house in Homewood, two SUVs and is not broke as shit.
Find and fall in love with a woman that is splitting the cost of drinks and meals and will love you and want to have babies with you regardless of what your income is because wasting time, so to speak, with you will be her bliss. That's where your true riches and happiness will be found.
Edit: And my brother does not make $100K a year.
Just how I view things. Not trying to disrespect you or your family. I agree with the last bit. Made the mistake of dating someone for a long time who only seemed to care about what I could give her even though she claimed to love me.
Although I'm not trying to have kids or a family that's not really my goal by I want someone who supports my goals.

Had one grandfather who made a mid grade salary as a bookkeeper at a textile mill. My other grandfather was one of the ten wealthiest men in the state of Alabama during the '70s and early '80s.
I loved them both dearly, but the one that ripped my heart out when he passed away was the one that was the bookkeeper because he was the one that had the most time to spend with me.
I hope you can find a balance and be able to achieve both.
