John Petty has 2 points what a bum. Fuggin Alex Reese barely keeping them in the game.
It’s amazing that their best shooter is Alex Reese. Everyone else on that squad is so ass from distance
It’s so gross. Seen more bricks in the last couple mins of this game than a lifetime of watching the HYGs.

Yeah final score is respectable but they’re so unathletic. Can’t shoot. PGs are trash. Goes without saying we’ll blast them at the Clam but what a thrill it would be to run them out of Rupp.
Guy was a very solid college coach. Will be interesting to see where he lands bc I doubt he’s getting another nba gig

I kept telling people Avery isn't a good coach. Good motivator for a brief stint...sure. Recruit some top PG's because of his NBA pedigree at that spot..yeah. But actually coach a team up over a sustained period? Please. I watched him dismantle everything good about the Mavs and sink their offense the longer he was there. He keeps getting jobs because he's energetic and people think that means he's good.
They'll be firing in at the end of next year IMO, when Bruce is still churning out top squads and the bams get tired of watching Avery struggle.
Pretty wild what can happen in just a little over a year in the sports world. This time a year and a half ago, Bruce was on the rocks with the fbi and AU was predicted to go 4-14 in the conference. Meanwhile Avery had just signed a monster recruiting class with Sexton and Petty and they were all full of hope and excitement. Now, Sexton’s gone, Petty sucks, and Avery is getting lapped by not just Bruce but almost all of the SEC. And he just signed a pretty garbage class this year too so not looking to bright for Avery’s future
They might be the worst team in the SEC for real. That 17 yr old Kira Lewis is already by far their best player and he’s not even good yet.
I hope Lewis gets better at the end of a miserable season and goes pro. He's got real talent. The rest of that squad reminds me a lot of 2008-2011 era SEC hoops where almost everyone played garbage basketball outside of couple of teams. Better to call it basketbrawl TBH. That's what Avery's bunch looks like. They want to play a bunch of 61-58 type games being super physical wiht bad shooting and hope they gut out a win. Yuck. Damaging the beautiful game IMO

They’ll throw cash at someone and the sec is an a lot more attractive League to coaches than it was 4 years ago. And they’ve made some big commitments to upgrade their shitty arena, but it’s not a super attractive job to an established, elite coach, which is what they’ll be targeting. I just don’t see them taking another risk type hire, so no up and coming mid major

They should go after Rick Pitino. They just might have the sack to. Otherwise probably get someone decent but obviously not even remotely close to Bruce caliber.
I don’t think anyone is gonna hire Rick but I could be wrong. With the way Greg Sankey black balled Hugh Freeze, I wonder if he’d even let Bama bring Pitino into the conference even if they wanted to

Agreed. He is the epitome of a flashy hire with no substance. At this rate, they could fire him this year if they continue to crater. If Zona plays like they did this past weekend at UConn, they will run them out of their airport hanger this Saturday. With us contending for another conference title and a high seed, their jealous PTBs will be furious watching their team not even make the NIT. I hope he does enough to hang around because they are not going to build sustainable success with him there.
@MattAU05 alerted me it was close late and we discussed the last few minutes as it went down. bama's offense down the stretch was such a train wreck. They had Herb Jones trying to isolate and attack the basket which was pitiful. That dude for GA State (Simmons?) is a beast and feasted on their souls.
Damn. UW fought back from down 11 with 5 to play to tie it with 9 seconds left. Zags fed it to Rue in the middle of the lane and he hits a turn around hook with 2 men on him with .6 to go to win it.

they play hard, and are long and athletic which helps them defend and rebound well enough they just outtalent teams over the course of 40 minutes... but I’ve watched them for 10 minutes and they haven’t taken 1 single shot from outside 2 feet that even threatened to go in
how do you have a roster full of McDonald’s All Americans and not have 1 single shooter on the entire roster? I’d push my grandmother down a flight of stairs to be playing this squad in Rupp today

Guess it really depends. But it kind of possibly worked out for the best. Still won the conference last season, and now we got Austin and Danjel back on a more experienced team this season when they might not have come back. Who knows?
