******Official Boog BBall 'Crootin Thread*******

maybe covered previously, but news to me... Jalen Green wants to be a vet

no... seriously... Evolutionary T-Mac wants to come back to school after his basketball career is over to become a vet

have I missed this? the story is 6 weeks old

https://usatodayhss.com/2018/chosen...-poodle-and-his-plan-to-be-a-veterinarian/amp
I did see this and had to remove the young stud from my personal all things hoops excel file. It’s just too much. Definitely recall our failed huhut program whiffing on kids that said similar about some major Boog U offers only to flip/ commit to a rival but this is our prized program led by Bruce and Steven. Maybe they can actually cash in. Somebody build this child his own petting zoo at the Vet Center ASAP.

Great article regardless if this young man is involved with the Boogs. Might have to refer to him as HYProdigy going forward.

yeah, if he doesn’t wanna Boog it will break my heart, but I’m a fan of the guy until he gives me reason otherwise whether he Boogs or not

he knows he’s going to the league no matter where he goes, and would rather go try to do something special at a place that’s never had that kind of success and be properly appreciated than just be another forgotten guy in a long line of guys taken for granted

I just read that thread, and it's really crazy for everyone to be all about next year's class/team with this one just getting started.

J Head doesn't seem to have the connections to the program that he used to have. So I don't put much stock in what he says anymore. Anyway, there is some news to monitor today for Boog athletics

only about an hour away and no new and still barely any crystal ball picks for Jaylin Williams. Seems like the kid has kept his decision very close

Best of luck to the youngster. Hearing he tried to commit and Bruce had to turn him aside. H went way up with the clean haircut but not enough G. Way too unathletic for this program.

Anyway obviously Cliff is boog caliber. Watched some Rongie Gordon clip and was impressed. Lefty. Athletic. Some all around game. Think he’d be a nice add and a much better fit as a Bruce 5.

There’s is a guy on the bunker fighting with others bc he says cooper isn’t as athletic as Jared and won’t be as good bc he won’t be able to lay it up like he does in high school. It’s a rice level take and he’s super pissed you disagree with him

I mean, I don't think we're gonna see Sharife blow by someone and throw down over people like SBJ did against Xavier in maui. But with that said, I think Sharife is gonna bring a whole new level of ball skills, change of pace, hesitations, faint moves that will make defenders look silly and allow him to get "easy" buckets.

He has the most developed and refined pure PG skills of any HS prospect probably ever.

As far as Greg Brown can we get some crootin expert on this sitch? Just spitballing here but I’m sure Sharife having a slumber party over at Isaac’s dorm. Surely they’ll bring Greg over Keith Niebuhr should be on the patrol over there.

Just got the scoop...
there was no slumber

No real hot takes but it's something:
per TOOS' Mark Murphy
In basketball:

*One of the more impressive prospects in the 2020 recruiting class, Greg Brown from Austin, Tex., is scheduled to take his official visit to Auburn this weekend. Brown, who is 6-9, 195, is ranked as the No. 1 power forward in the class by 247 and the No. 1 prospect in Texas. He plays for Vandergrift High where he is rated as the No. 8 overall prospect in the country. He is making a return trip to Auburn after taking an unofficial visit to the Plains this summer.

Brown had this to say when I asked him about his interest in Auburn. “I love Coach Pearl. He reminds me a lot of my parents. He is intense like them. His persona is similar to my dad’s and he makes me feel comfortable.”

*Coach Bruce Pearl’s team has yet to allow an opponent to score 75 points during the Tigers’ 7-0 start. The last Auburn team to do that was the 2003-04 squad that finally allowed that many points in an 82-69 loss in game eight vs. UNLV on its homecourt in Las Vegas.

*The Tigers are leading the SEC in scoring at 86.2 points per game and are giving up 66.4, which ranks 10th. Auburn is plus 19.1 in scoring margin, second in the league behind Arkansas (23.4).

*In addition to matching the 7-0 start of the 2003-04 team, this season’s group of Tigers has equaled the 1938-39, 1940-41, 1949-50, 1965-66, 1980-81 and 1986-87 teams for doing that.

Auburn teams with longer winning streaks to open the season include 14 by the 1928-29 team, nine by the 1951-52 team, 19 by the 1958-59 team, eight by the 1962-63 team and 17 by the 1998-99 Tigers.

*Starting with game three at South Alabama, senior guard Samir Doughty decided to wear a headband and has kept doing it since at the urging of his teammates. In the five games wearing the headband the guard is averaging 20.8 points and is shooting 54.1 percent from the field.

I mean,.maybe not today..but like I said to the dude over there that it’s silly to compare a JR in college with a 17 year old. He was acting like SBJ came from high school right into Maui and cooper won’t improve even though he’s 17 and still growing.

It's not that I don't think Cooper will get stronger, more explosive, and improve. It's just I don't think they have similar playing styles. Cooper is gonna score tons of points in the paint. Just not doing it the same way Jared did imo.

it’s because the dude has a very narrow, delusional definition of “athletic” and completely dismisses, or, more likely, is too dumb to realize the athletic advantages Sharife has over Jared

they have different skillsets and different games... neither is more or less athletic than the other, and only a simpleton would get worked up over it
