Alright I wasn’t gonna be petty but I hope he’s the biggest bust in NBA history now
As I mentioned earlier, what’s to stop Kuminga from doing the same thing? Hell he is supposedly ranked higher than Green. Or Jabari Smith, etc. We are not taking about pocket change anymore. That’s real money they are throwing around now. This is my worst fear coming true. We finally get good enough to possibly get some of these studs and the damn G League is going to start snatching them from our grasp. This is going to really change the way these kids are recruited and make it so damn hard for the coaches of the blue blood schools. If it catches on we could see the top more than just 5 or so a year. No bueno!
And so it begins. By the time I hit send there is already noise that Greg Brown has reached out to the G League and Kennedy Chandler has been contacted by the G league. This shit is about to go bonkers. Think I might hate the NBA by the time this is all said and done. Can probably blame the NCAA, but he’ll they can’t match the type of money being thrown around now. Kuminga isn’t old enough... you have to be 18 by a certain date to qualify and he misses the cutoff by something dumb like 4 or 5 weeks
I think he could make a valid argument that he should get a waiver considering he will be in the same draft class as Jalen and is so close already, but let’s hope not

thanks for the info. I was wondering if there was an age limit. Seems like it should be by class though. If they can graduate high school and be accepted by college that’s all that should matter.
I’m guessing LSU probably found out he has had impermissible contact with an agent through all of this and that’s why they stopped recruiting him. Sounds like Duke might be backing off as well. I see all of this getting really shady and messy for a lot of kids/schools.

Hooks said we have a legit shot at Kuminga, but there are a lot of variables involved (virus, G League, blue bloods possibly having a spot open, etc.)

I think in an alternate simulation we could have gotten the 5* Chalkie, maybe Brakefield, maybe one of those top 20-50 SGs that LSU, Ark, UT or OM got. With the whole G League thing now can pretty much forget about even trying for consensus top 10 croots.
yep. I do feel like we did not catch a single break In this cycle. If the chaulkie waits and does not sign in the early period and sees what hot garbage UNC is, then we get him. Brakefield was on the verge of committing until he received his dream offer. G League offered a lot more top tier guys, but they all said no thanks I’m going to play college ball. Just happened to be the 2 we go hardest on are the 2 looking for glory and fame, instead of a team with life long friendships and championships. Feel we are headed down the same path with Kumungia. Not sure if we just fell for the old rope-a-dope, or were just extremely unlucky. Either way it stings really bad. Just going to have to be patient and win the Bruuuuce way.

Hearing a lot about Cam Bryant coming aboard to us. 6’7 dude with above average handles and a good outside shot that played on AOT with Rife and the gang over the years.

I think he’d play 3 for us mainly, though.
If Bruce wants him, I’ll trust that, but definitely want and need another combo guard...
I just don’t see the need for a 2* wing.. we have holes at C and guard. And only 2 spots left unless we tell Jamal to pound sand. And honestly, we’re so thin at guard I don’t know if we can afford to tell him too.
Flanny, Cambridge, Javon Franklin and even Powell could play the 3.
Yeah, not sure we need another unpolished, bouncy wing. But who knows? And I guess some of this depends on how Bruce sees some of these kids developing into the future. In his crootin Press conference, he said Flanny was a 2, but he obviously played the 3 this year. Or maybe Bruce sees Powell as an immediate impact player. Bryce was, but that was when the team kind of blew and had zero expectations. IDK. I'd like to add a guard too at least and probably another C. But not opposed to taking crazy athletic dudes and letting them marinate in Bruce and Steven's dungeon for a year to see how they come out.

I do think this guy is a lot more polished than Cambridge and AF coming out of high school, though. Better handles and can create a shot and even has a step back three. Cambridge has to travel every time to even try and do that. Devan is an all worldly athlete though and one of the most explosive players I’ve seen.

Still think we are getting three more guys and he will be the “Cambridge” of this years class. i.e. A guy who played with Rife, Ice, Stretch etc on AOT who can jump out of the gym and get a late offer from us. I definitely don’t think he would be a guy we’d expect to contribute a ton next year if Bruce pulls him in, but the third guy in our 3 spots we will have left who has tons of upside.

Gonna be pretty sad going from thinking we’re signing 3 more 5* and instead landing a 2* Forward, a grad transfer from a small school, and maybe Cardwell..
