++++Official Boogs vs Oregon Game Thread (Hut Hut)++++

Thanks but you are on the wrong board. This site is restricted to only, "The sky is falling" type posts. But thanks again.

I hear you, my man, and I can definitely identify with what you are saying. This happens on the Rupp Rafters website if we only beat an outmatched opponent by 20 points.

I’ve seen this a billion times before... some Boog voodoo gonna save Gus’ ass - we’re gonna win this game - sunshine pumpers gonna gloat as if this wasn’t a terrible performance that’s an indictment on Gus and proof that’s he’s everything we’ve said he is for years

Boogs by, idk, 2? 5? who knows, I can’t wait to see how it happens, but we’re gonna win this game and I’m gonna be pissed about it
Why hello mr wizard

That guy you quoted is a chode fyi.

I'm happy we didnt lose but these types of games are wins by everybody on the team and staff except for the head coach.

Watching us knowing we are going to shit the because of Gus is maddening.

Also, Gus ain't Coach Cal.

Watching the game Sat night just proved what we all already knew. The maddening calls like running crazy trick plays on 1st and goal from the 3 weren’t the calls of previous offensive coordinators. It was Gus all along. He’s calling plays, he’s not calling plays, it doesn’t fvcking matter. His stink is all over our offensive woes since 2014. The one stretch where the offense was clearly different (that hot stretch in the middle/end of 2017) only bought him more autonomy and more willingness to meddle. We’re going to have wasted some of the best talent on defense that we have ever had over the past few years because our “offensive mastermind” is a doofus. If he sticks around too long we’re going to waste a 5 star legacy QB that would give his left nut to win a game for AU, because he is stuck playing under a guy that can’t develop QBs and doesn’t develop intelligent game plans. The homers will tell us that Oregon is a legit team and that it was a huge victory. I doubt it. What’s more likely is that we beat another overrated PAC 10 team, just like last year. 8-5

Well said

And excuse me gents I was getting pretty toasty and irritable basically the whole game until we somehow won but why would we not go for 2 down 2 with 10 mins left in the game?

Gus said basically “oops” after the game, like someone with infinite job security would say after basically ruining his chances to win.

I’m gonna log out & back in so I can double like this un.

I’d think he shoulda been fired on the field if all scoring had stopped there, but the one with 9 seconds left I can’t even fathom. My basketball only fan wife was going nuts on that last guffaw. I’m so glad we won, but the game was pretty much like The Dub in Atlanta last year, or at least in my opinion.
LOVE MY PLAYERS THO

Been reading all of these comments about BO II, and I’d like to leave a couple. There once was a QB that threw 7 interceptions against UTK in his first year of eligibility. The next year, another QB chucked up 5 in his first year of eligibility in Knoxville as well. At that time, you couldn’t play until your Frosh year, so they both had been in the system for a year. The following year, Pat Sullivan & Archie Manning had an all out duel in the Gator Bowl & showed the nation what kind of QBS they were.
In a nutshell, BO was phenomenal with the resources he has in place. JMO of course, but I’d like the opinion of @CJ3131

Agreed, Solly.
I hope you had a nice trip out and back too.

That was Sully with 5 interceptions in Knoxville-- UT 45 AU 19--1969.

I think the other was Alex Bowden in 1965 in a win over UKY.

May be wrong on Bowden but I know it was not Loran Carter (a senior) in 68, unless I have lost it.

WDE Solly!!

Proof that some people will defend anything. Not going for two after the last touchdown is indefensible. If Auburn would have lost 28-27, every Auburn fan on Earth would have contributed to Gus' buyout

Agreed

Vegas was impressed with this dub

I feel like you could take $100, bet the money line at aTm, roll it over and let it all ride every single week after that, and come out better than 25-1

of course, good luck finding someone outside of an actual Vegas or brick & mortar sportsbook to take your $5-10-20k bets on the SEC title game and playoff games... but still...

If Gus goes for 2 could the opposition have taken the penalty during the PA instead of the kickoff? If so, then Gus probably did the right thing. By being up 6 at least the opposing team has to attempt an extra point to win whereas no extra point attempt would be needed if gone for 2 with a 15 yard penalty.

I think they have to decide whether to enforce it before, so if you come out with an offense and they elect to enforce it on the extra point then you can send the FG unit back out. This would have been great, because then we wouldn't have been kicking it off from so deep which gave them great field position after a decent return.

But they wouldn't have, at least I wouldn't have. I'd rather have 15 yards on the kickoff to make that Hail Mary as manageable as they did.

The official said after the spike that the penalty would be assessed on the kick off, so Gus can't use that as his escape goat for not going for two. I would have only gone for two if you do a Joey power or some other play involving him, it's not worth getting Bo dinged up in that situation.

He didn't. He flat out said going for one was the wrong decision

Defense played lights out in the 2nd half. I'm feeling good about 8-5. A loss last night probably would've had them at 7-6. Gus survives at 7 wins this season though, unfortunately.

It's all about how we get through the A&M and UF road games. Neither of those teams are head and shoulders above us talent wise and neither has really been a fortress of home wins lately either. If we got through those unbeaten or even with 1 tight loss I'd start to believe that this was one of those seasons that Gus figures some things out and is dangerous. He does that once every 3-4 years or so it seems. But if we lose both of those we're headed for a 7-5 type season.

Really like Bo Nix. Think that having the dad he has may help him from regressing under Gus. But even that won't do what good coaching would do for him because pops can keep him on track and the play calls and scheme still won't maximize his talents. He's just going to have to make the best of that situation on his own. Defense will keep getting nastier as the LB's get more snaps together as long as our line stays healthy. Just worry that our OL will be so poor that it won't matter in the end.

word, could you imagine this child at Clempson or even aTm? just can't see him succeed in spite of Gus, bit damn i hope he does.

My biggest issue is the shitty receiver play. They do Nix ZERO favors. They just stand there when a play breaks down. Terrible route runners. It’s bad. Sal should literally never play but we have no one else. Schwartz isn’t going to magically fix it either. We desperately need 3-4 6’1”+ guys out there. Enough with the midget wrs who get lost in traffic.

That’s where Nix is most wasted. Look at OU and OSU... all of their WRs play the ball in the air and scramble when a play breaks down. Ours literally just stand there.

Gus got it from Art Briles

but somehow they still got open and made plays... ours are locked down due to an elemetary passing tree and stupid option routes that are 10 years past their prime.

We have 6 passing plays that we run and the book is out on them... this isn't the split veer.
Not disagreeing just saying cause Gus.

I ran into a friend Sunday after the game that told me he and some of his friends ran into Bryce before the game. Said they walked up to and into the stadium with him and a companion. He said they all chatted for about 10 minutes getting in and when they left he shook hands with all of them. They thanked him for the great season and career and he said "no, thank you guys and All our fans and Auburn for what you guys did for me". Then said it completely changed his life. Thought that was pretty cool.
