OT: 2019-20 boog hoops

BRUCE PEARL

-- On Jamal Johnson: Has improved his outside shooting and is a good rebounding guard. Can defend well off-ball, but needs to improve on-ball defense. Has shot to be in regular rotation.

-- On Austin Wiley: “I think Austin’s got a tremendous opportunity. He’s healthy for the first time in a long time.... He’s moving like a forward, not a center..... I find it hard to believe there’s 12 guys in our league who are better than him.”

-- Believes Isaac Okoro will be SEC Freshman of the Year, or at least All-Freshman team. Best defensive freshman he has ever had, he says. Okoro will fit in immediately.

That JGT vid is actually pretty good gang if you can sustain listening to Jay. Includes a lot of stats and vid clips. Nothing too ground breaking or anything but still good hoops content

I’m beginning to think Stretch is gonna have a good shot to play in the league. He’s leaps and bounds better than I thought he would be

I think JGT knows his stuff when it comes to hoops

I think JGT is good at analyzing stats and listens to people who know things. I have seen him do some great analysis, but I've also seen times when he wasn't able to answer pretty basic follow up questions (though most of the time I remember this it was with football).

the kenpom rankings just got updated. 22 for the Boogs which I guess is fair. Somehow in god's green cock Tennessee is 19 though
Guess his algorithm can’t properly value Austin, Danjel, Mac and the exquisite facial features of our entire squad. He has Bama 13th in the SEC though so I’ll give him a pass.

I think Bama will surprise, could see the finish 4/5 in the league...but dear god they are as hideous as ever.

Boogs at 24 in the first release of the ap poll. A bunch of scrub squads that the Boogs walloped on the way to an SEC tourney title and final four appearance somehow in the top ten
Just to put in perspective how far Bruce has taken this program 24 is a legitimate slap in the face. Give us a little extra motivation so all good.

I may have missed it in this legendary 20+ page thread here but what do we expect as far as starting lineups and key rotations? I don’t expect BRUCE to rotate more than 10 unless we are destroying some poor team. This is how I see it:

1 - J’von, Turbo
2 - Samir, turbo / Jamal
3 - Okoro, Flanagan, Samir / Jamal
4 - DJP, jaylin, Javon Franklin (one of JW or JF will be out out the regular rotation IMO)
5 - MAC / Wiley, STRETCH if one of these two are in foul trouble

hit me with some thoughts fam

My question is how much time will MAC/Wiley get. If Wiley is the player that we are hearing he is now I see him getting a lot more time on the floor. From all accounts the light has come on and he has worked his butt off to get that starting spot.

I also heard that Mac was rotating some at the 4, but his skill set doesn't seem good for what we do with the 4. I feel like we rarely have trouble finding minutes at the 5, most of the time foul trouble forces us to move people there that don't normally belong there.

I think Mac continues to start but they’ll essentially split time 50/50

Looks about like what I’m thinking. Don’t love the idea of Samir or Jamal playing much 3 but wouldn’t surprise me if Samir did a little.

I think 20 mins each is pretty optimal for both. Give or take a few if one is really ballin in a close ball game. I’d want Austin on a bit of minute limit anyway make sure he’s healthy for our run to the natty chip.
