ESPN’s College GameDay is coming to Auburn Arena for the first time ever.
The weekly Saturday morning pregame college basketball show will be on the Plains on Feb. 1 ahead of Auburn’s home game against Kentucky, which also marks the program’s annual AUTLIVE game. It will be the first time the show has been on location for an Auburn game, home or away, though head coach Bruce Pearl has made four prior appearances from his time at Tennessee.
“We’re excited about it,” Pearl said. “I had an idea a couple days ago, but it wasn’t cemented. I felt like maybe we needed-- I don’t know... I kind of felt like we had to win the (Iowa State) game to be in position, but it’s great for Auburn. It’s great for our university. It’s great for our community. All eyes of college basketball will be in Auburn, Alabama next Saturday. That’s pretty cool.”
Host Rece Davis and analysts Jay Bilas, LaPhonso Ellis and Seth Greenberg will be live from Auburn Arena, beginning at 10 a.m. on ESPN.
Kentucky and Auburn will meet at 5 p.m. on Feb. 1 in Auburn Arena, with the game broadcast on ESPN. It is expected to be a top-20 matchup between the two SEC programs, who last met in last season’s Elite Eight in Kansas City. First, Auburn will travel to Oxford, Miss., to take on Ole Miss on Tuesday.
Auburn and Kentucky have split their last six meetings, with the Tigers winning two of the last three in Auburn Arena.
“That’s just another basketball game for us,” senior guard Samir Doughty said."
