1) Picks up dribble for no reason
2) Drives to basket with no real plan and often turns the ball over.
3) NEVER follows his shot
4) Horrendous shot selection late season, you don’t shoot an NBA 3 with 22 seconds on the shot clock and plenty of time left in the game.
5) Forces passes at times leading to turn overs
6) Sometimes forgets he is on a team goes to hero ball mode

He is a streak shooter. When he is on, he is great. But when he is off, he is a fuggin liability. Him and Brown had a horrendous ending to last year. They shot a combined 20% at best the final few games.
 
Two of your complaints are about turnovers which is odd because he was 3rd best in the league in assist to turnover ration. As far as the long the distance shots, the threat of him making long distance threes early in the shot clock (which he does a lot) forces the defense to expand past the perimeter which creates tons of space for the rest of the team on offense.

Picking up his dribble? I really don't remember that being a problem, but if you say so

Hero ball? Maybe his freshman year but definitely not last year

End of year he had a fvck ton of turn overs. It was was like 2 seasons last year. And no, it’s not because our big man got hurt. Other defenses adjusted to Brown and Harper and gave them fits. They never were able to adjust what opposing coaches were doing. By the end of the year Brown and Harper were irrelevant.

Yes go back and look how often after crossing half court he would pick up his dribble for no reason and that forced an AU player to run to him and literally take a hand off pass. Several times the defender stripped the ball leading to a turnover.

The other pet peeve was when he would dribble in one spot for 20 seconds then drive to the goal to draw a foul. I can think of at least 15 times where there was no foul and he either turned the ball over or his shot was blocked. I got the strategy but like I said, other teams adjusted to that church league chit too.

Yeah he’s better at all those things than any other PG in the lig. The ‘doesn’t follow his shot’ was the best. Wouldn’t even be something a PG is asked to do. Quite the opposite actually.

Depends... you do need to get back on D but considering his bricks were so big many of those rebounds he would have gotten vs doing some fade away like he is Michael Jordan.
 
Is there any legit critique of Harper that I made or do you guys think he is a perfect player? His shooting was hot garbage late in the year and you guys focus on what he did Nov-January.

Not seeing any legit gripes related to fundamentals. Clearly he didn’t shoot it that great at the end of the year.

He led the squad in FT attempts largely due to those drives to the goal. Had stellar assist/ gm and assist/TO #s the year.

I couldn’t even begin to imagine what you are referring to with “picks up his dribble”.

Do you even watch AU b-ball???? Crosses half court picks up dribble and players run to him for hand off. Please tell me I am. If the only one to see this. @Docdumpsta you remember??

Just reviewing the schedule and seeing games starting next week... ITS HERE BOYS!!!

Also, anyone aware if you can eat tickets for Friday night at the gate? @Harvey Specter i want your tickets if I know a third can get into the game. It would be my first ever AU BB game.

Pretty sure they have a data center in the Clam just so they can stream stuff. Like I believe they stream gymnastics and volleyball shit. Can’t imagine why they wouldn’t want to broadcast a top 10 b-ball squad but who knows. As of right now the AU site just says it’ll be available on radio. But maybe that’ll change.

Maybe Bruce doesn’t want there to be any film on the boys for U Dub to study

How many exhibition games are streamed/televised by other schools? Are we the norm or the exception?

I don’t think Harper is perfect by any means, but I think your critiques are way too specific and harsh. I feel like you’ve seen something happen 2-3 times and you’ve decided he does it all the time. Kinda seems you’re so anti-Harper that you’ll always see anything remotely negative and always write off everything good. And the good far outweighs the bad.

I feel like we ran into this the last year or 2 and most of them are. Or maybe it was our actual first game they didn’t show. I know UKs exhibition is on SECN. Just more bush league BS from Boog U iyam.
 
Well a quick search on watchESPN says quite a few exhibitions will be available for streaming including Montevallo v Bama tomorrow @ Jordan Clam West.

Looked back a few pages, and didn't see the game time of our Boogs & Blazers game time mentioned anywhere. Just so I won't feel bad about going with the Boogs, I can reconcile it by being all out Blazer in football & Boog in the Hoops.
