Can't wait to see our guys in action again in Birmingham. Need to take care of the Fliers first this weekend, but it will be great to be back to full strength with Danjel returning. I was listening to NBC sports college basketball talk podocast today and they were discussing Michigan at length and how they are title contenders. They eventually got to their depth and how they only have a 7 man rotation with the guys after that being completely incapable of playing significant minutes yet. They are playing well, but they are one injury from being in deep shit. Having a true 10 man rotation as we do is an incredible luxury.

IMO it’s a bit concerning that he’s waited until the last week or two to decide he needs to shed a few pounds before his debut. But if he comes back and balls, it’s whatever.
Young Miles is not ready to fill those shoes... not sure what kind of offer Malik will get to play in Kazakhstan next year, but we need to budget about 3X whatever that salary will be to entice him to stick around as a “graduate” assistant for a year or two before he heads off to Hollywood

Gang, lets talk about the rotations. Specifically, the Horace, Wiley, Ant one. What are your thoughts on how its been? I still think Bruce is trying to figure it out but we seem to hit a lull when horace and ant are on the floor at the same time. Also, I feel too much time passes between substitutions sometimes. Ant started the other night and was taken out after the first tv time out around the 15 minute mark and didn't come back in until the 7 minute mark. That doesn't seem like a lot but it is a little long imo. Austin and Horace experience the same time of play/sit in the first half as well.
Now 2nd halves are different each game depending on the teams/situations so its a little more fluid.
Its still early and I think Bruce is still tweaking it and will have to tweak further once DP comes back but I feel it hasn't been as efficient as, I think, Bruce would want.

I just assume Bruce is looking for groups that will play well together as well as keep people happy with minutes in games that don't really matter. I assume that when we get into conference play that minutes for guys who aren't performing will start to go down.
Ant had 2 early fouls. I think he’s better all around than Austin so wouldn’t surprise me if he keeps starting. I think he has some flat games every once in a while though. He did against Dayton. Nice to be able to go to Austin more in those games and of course Ho is always at 100+.
I actually like ant starting b/c we are a get out of the gate fast type team. Those first few minutes we seem to be relentless. Then, after the other team catches their breathe, I like bringing in Austin to change up the game.
I guess it’s just what you think each player does that helps the team the most. But Austin leads the whole squad in player efficiency rating. His per 40 numbers are also the best on the team too. He’s not as an aggressive defender as Mac but he’s been a better shot blocker so far. Mac’s more dangerous off the high ball screens but that’s been nullified a bit with his major dip in 3 pt %. I love em both but Austin has been the better player so far this season

Three teams in that top 10 I wouldn't really want to see late in the season/would be tough matchups for us IMO. Duke, Michigan, and Virginia. I think we could match up pretty well against any of the other teams. And I wouldn't be opposed to a rematch with Duke. I just think those freshmen are going to really start clicking in a couple months and be super tough to beat. Would hate trying to play against UVA's defense and lack of tempo. Michigan just seems really well rounded and difficult to match up against and defend.

I am not in an agreement about Virginia. I’m all about playing someone that’s going to beat us with defense. Obviously they could prove me wrong, but I want to see it to believe it.
I think UT is better than you've given them credit for, but I also think Williams is overrated. Hell they'd miss Admiral more than Williams right now. More versatile, can hit shots more often and is more likely to make big plays IMO. Williams is sooooo foul prone. You go after him and he's fouling out. You get 2 on him early and he can't adjust. They've got a lot of good parts around that and Barnes is a better coach than I had expected. But the stuff with Grant just gets so overhyped.
