OT: AUBURN BASKETBALL

I was ready but football has only made the itch worse. I honestly couldn't care less about round boogball when my only memory was taking L's while sweating in an un-air conditioned arena in the 20th century. Bruce has changed the game and his excitement this off-season is a good sign, it's also nice to have the resident EXPERT on the subject matter here @Denim Vest

Glad to have you. GREG's glad to have you.

I feel good about Christian Brown but will believe Hagans when I see it... BRUCE can convince a wing to come play his style, but convincing a point guard to come to AUBURN instead of being a guaranteed 1&done lottery pick with Corch Cal is a whole 'nother level of sales job

last I checked though - AUBURN and Kentucky were the only 2 schools with crystal balls for either guy on 24/7... and we continue to visit with and get visits from both... so it could happen

Yes hoping Cal sets his sights on another elite youngster but looks this might be their top target.

My research on the net tells me these 2 studs play on an Adidas AAU club. Not sure what that means for us but better than Nike.

much better than the swoosh... let's hope BRUCE still has some Adidas contacts from his time at Tennessee that can allow him some back door channels to maneuver and do his thing

No it's not. I hadn't seen the Palm brackets. He's got 7 SEC squads but no Boogs:

https://www.cbssports.com/college-b...-be-ridiculous-and-enjoy-end-of-july-madness/

SEC (7) Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, Texas A&M, Missouri, Arkansas, Vanderbilt

Gonna be a rugged conference slate and I really hate our OOC. I see MTSU as an at large team so maybe that'll be a good one for our resume. Dayton on the bubble.
We should have won that 2015-16 game in Nashville against them

BRUCE checking out another 5*

Also, practice starts the 29th I believe. Hoping to hear about some midnight madness festivities soon.
Is the 29th when they'll do the midnight madness? Or will they get a few practices in before that? I always thought the schools that do the madness thing are taking advantage (and for publicity) of the fact that the NCAA doesn't stipulate what time practice can begin on the first day that practices are allowed. Admittedly, I don't keep up much with the NCAA is doing or their rules.

I think 29th is first day they can do an in season practice. They are allowed off-season practices too they're just more time restricted.

Used to be the midnight madness was midnight of the first day allowed but it's just for publicity. Would be cool if they did something that Friday either at midnight or just that evening if they can.

What's our weakness this year @Denim Vest?
I don't see any. I expect to be a complete team in all areas. Defense and rebounding are still a concern. They were just so bad last year but we have the players to be good enough in those areas. DANJEL on D really concerns me still. He could screw up the whole operation on that side. PG play. We got a couple studs but need Harper to take it to the next level as a floor general. DAVION to be ready.

AUSTIN taking it to the next level on both ends. Role guys and chemistry. Couple things that could be the difference between bubble team and a squad that can make a deep run in the TOURNEY.

Also our OOC schedule is trash. That concerns me from an RPI/ being ready for SEC play stand point.

That Murray St game really chaps me gang. We can't find a legitimate club to go play? Why are we not playing Ga Tech every year? Should be playing FSU on the reg. Setup something with a UVA, Va Tech, MD, NC St. Plenty of Big East/10/12 clubs that would do home and homes. Go on the road and play a DUKE, UNC, Kansas, Louisville etc.

Didn't we finish like 11th out of 14 teemz in da SEC lazt seazun.
I ain't serprized at all dat ain't nun of dem picked uz.
HOWEVA, if we lern to play a litta DEEFENTZ, and HARPA cutz back on dem 40 FOOOTAZ, we gotta good chantz to dantz!!
You true, you true... but at the same time, we return every bit of production from an 18 win team, and all of that production was coming from freshmen and sophomores last year. Harper was almost as frustrating Danjel last season... but I think with the threat of lost playing time from Davion, he will take on the floor general role more so this season.

Should take a big step forward this season imo... too much overall talent not to. But this is Auburn basketball, so I guess I should remain cautious with my optimism.

I am optimizztik based on our line-upz in Italy or RUSHA or ware eva we wuz dis SUMMMA.
If wun or two kidz kan play deeefentz, we gotta chantz to win 19 plus games. Doubt we got 5 dat kan play deefentz frum lazt yeerz skwad. Da freshman point guard brangz tenacity on deefentz and pozzibly a smarta mindset dan HARPA.
FWIW---I thank HARPA iz da mozt talented kid on da teeem BEEEHIND MACKLASHACK. I juzt gotta see HARPA play WITHIN DA GAME a litta betta to LUV hiz azz. If he takes 10 fewer 40 FOOTAZ a game, he kood be LETHAL!!!!!!!!

I'd like just a general topic to celebrate BRUCE and his collection of studs as we count down to opening night in the CLAM.

Here's a blurb on AUSTIN being back in action:

Please add your thoughts, musings, fantasies etc regarding the premiere squad in Boogville.
Denim, brother, your presentzzz on the bunker has been missed. A lack of true bAUsketball talk has been killing me. I'm enjoying the shit out of this thread.

What's everyone's thoughts on DANJEL? It's my opinion that his play is the difference between this team being an average team that sneaks into the tournament or a team that could make a run in the tournament.

If he can play aggressively offensively the way he played before his injury last year, this team could be great. Defensively he worries me still, but I like him defending a SF on the perimeter better than I do a PF that has more size than him.

I'm thinking AUSTIN and STAPH lead us in scoring at around 15-18 PPG each. If Danjel can give us 12-15 PPG and play solid defense, this team can compete for (gasp) an SEC CHAMPIONSHIP.

Where am I wrong here gents?

I'm kind of surprised at how little preseason attention Mustapha is getting. Was freshman all SEC and averaged 15 and 6 on the season, but everyone is in love with Austin bc of the stuff from team USA this summer
He's being overlooked due to all the elite FR coming into the lig. Mostly UK but got Porter at Mizzou Sexton at Bama. He's got 1st team all SEC potential though no doubt.

yes he's the biggest question mark for me. He could be our best player or our worst player depending on what kind of strides he's made. I simply don't see him being a capable defender but if he can just be improved on D and be better about taking it to the rim on O that would be big.

Hopefully BRUCE doesn't coddle him and will sit him down if he's not getting it done on both ends. The depth is there at the 3 unlike last year at the 4. I'm convinced Malik will be a solid defender. Can play Staph there if need be with Brown at 2. Desean can play some 3.
