OT: AUBURN BASKETBALL

I hope it is his year... his year in Europe. I may be in the minority but I hope he moves on. He seems, and I could be totally wrong, like a "look at me" - "me first" type of dude. My concern would be that if he came back how well he'd fit in with this squad and the type of chemistry they have. He could disrupt it and become a cancer if he didn't get the minutes that he thought he should be getting.

That said, On the opposite end of the spectrum, Austin seems to be very humble and would flow well with the chemistry the guys have going.
You may be right, in a way. But I don't get the "if he came back, how would he fit in" line of questioning. The kid is with the team every single day, all day long, for every practice, busting his ass with along with Austin and every other kid on the team. They're still accepting of him and he gets along great with all of them. He clearly fits in well as Bruce would have every legitimate reason to run him off and out of school if he were going to be a distraction and take away from the chemistry of this team in any kind of way, be it playing in games or just being around the team. Just my opinion of course.

Agreed, but I’m almost certain Danjel won’t be back at AU next year

Sometimes, I wonder if the deep swamp in Indianapolis is actually behind this. Just think, as more teams like UNC get caught up in scandals only to threaten and file lawsuits that the NCAA knows they can't win (and then this would/could cause a snowball effect across college athletics as more schools do this), the NCAA views this as a way to regain the control and justification for their existence that they seem to be losing day by day. The NCAA is "cooperating" with the FBI. Makes you wonder if several years back, did the NCAA take these "grave concerns of illegal activity" to the FBI. Que the @demeat conspiracy theories and tinfoil hats.

I feel pretty confident that the FBI didn’t just decide to investigate some shoe companies for paying some kids to wear their brand without some urging from the NCAA. Just doesn’t make any sense why the FBI would care. I’m not sure what has happened is even illegal.

The more I think about it, the more I think this info could've come from the prosecution of some of these cases that are on shaky ground. Throw out some really scary sounding info to get more people to come forward and potentially bolster their cases. It just seems rather odd that these reporters can report the profiles of these schools and coaches but don't/can't name any names. There may well be some NCAA violations coming, but I do wonder if it is as bad as these articles are making it sound. If anything, it makes the NCAA look like a terrible organization to allow/not try to stop the AAU/Shoe company dealings, when they certainly understood their impact on the game. The NCAA can't play dumb and act surprised about this.

Well now we have Pete Thames saying Pearl will be canned and Clay Travis saying we’re legit.

Based on their past accuracies in predicting similar things we’re gonna be the first 1 seed to lose to a 16 and Pearl will get a lifetime contract and AU will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

I’d take losing to a 16 seed in round 1 if it assures Pearl being safe.

I was under the impression that Clay Travis didn’t know anything about college b-ball. Maybe he just cares now bc UT is good again
He also likes Pearl from his time at UT and wasn't happy about how all that went down. Which doesn't really mean he knows what he's talking about, but probably why he likes Auburn basketball right now

That sounds accurate.

Truth be told 99% of the talking heads that focus on college football are no better than your average poster on TBB when it comes to hoops knowledge. Its just not something they get.

I mean, in all honesty, I'm quite certain we pay guise, and so does every other program in America. I had a buddy who got extra benefits at Campbell freakin College. Everybody everywhere gets payed ($1 to ricederp). I just hope we're not on an FBI recording making arrangements.
Lots a folks passsin CA$H around dem AAU terneeeez!!!
I've dun herd 2 diffrunt kids sayin thay wuz part of a group ware players admitted gettin CA$H.

The biggest fish are getting the most cash. Those kids at Carolina, Duke, and UK, etc are getting huge paydays from the shoe companies. Nike and Adidas want to make sure that when the next MJ comes through, they have him signed up. The AAUs are where they wash it and funnel it to the kids.

Okay, so now the Boogs are 1-4 in games on days ending in a seven. 22-0 on days ending on other days. Arky is on the 27th, so looks like we’ll finish 26-5. Bye in the SEC tourney keeps us from playing on the 7th, so looks like the boogs will cut down the nets, and wrap up a 1 seed as conference champs at 29-5.

That's huge for the team. Gets him back in June-July and gives him 2-3 months to get ready for next year.

We were better than tbb since day 1. That’s why I cancelled my sub to them.
yeah for me certainly that was the case, but Doc here means that pretty much the entire gang has left, he was the last holdout from the old crew to my knowledge.

Anyone remember the tall kid we were recruiting last year from Charles Henderson? I was wondering if he ended up at prep school or somewhere else?
