OT: Boogs Arky not men's softball

Oh man. Looks like Butch and company choked away another close one. I was too disappointed with the abysmal effort yesterday to subject myself to another day of it. Glad I sat this one out.

Me too brother. Me too.

The most disappointing aspect is we looked really good at the plate. 7 hits in the first 3 innings. Hitting with runners in scoring position. Then the Estes HR was taken back, and we looked lost after that. And we can’t see a low, hard slider to save our lives.

I wonder if we could hire Justin Timberlake to scout talent for us. Seems like an obvious choice.

Yeah it sucks when you put yourself in a position to win, but just can’t quite muster the mental fortitude to get it done.

You sure know how to twist that knife.
It’s not for you. It’s mainly for the other goobs around here that I’ve been trying to educate about beisbol for going on 3 years now. Yet they insist on responding to my kindness with smarminess and gloating about taking 1/3 from a very average ball club before it even happens.

I love this complex game that so many watch but very few truly understand.

You know less about the AU baseball program than anybody on the board that posts about it. You’ve had many chances to disprove that and you never have. It sux to me that you’d rather see us lose than to win too. That’s how some people are though. Looking like you’re going to have a fun season.

I know a poorly coached team when I see it. You’re right, though. I don’t keep up with AU as much as I’d like mainly because I can’t stand seeing such a poor product put on the field. Kind of the same thing that’s happening with football at the moment.

I can only imagine which pathetic poster you're replying to.

Not sure I follow.
Lol, he did a movie called "Trouble with the Curve" or something like that. He was a major league scout sent to look at a minor league guy that was crushing the ball. Didn't like him because dude couldn't hit a breaking ball to save his life (no one else could see this). He passed on him, turned out to be the right call.

Since we can't hit a breaking ball, and I mentioned that way back in OCC play, maybe we need to hire Timberlake to scout talent for us. And this isn't just a Butch problem. We couldn't hit breaking balls under Sonny or Paw either. It's almost like we just recruit kids that can hit fastballs (maybe they don't see much breaking stuff in high school or travel ball anymore) and then when we get them on campus we just put them in the cage and feed 100mph fastballs at them off the machine. I don't know what's up. Sure we make some solid contact sometimes but it's only sometimes. There is not enough consistency to say that it is in fact because we have good hitters. I just don't believe that. I truly believe we've lacked a good hitting coach for years now.

All that to say, I was making a joke about a baseball movie that I assumed you had seen, knowing your passion for the game and all.

Good movie. @DufnerFanBoy , I won't give any spoilers, but you should watch

I haven’t seen that movie, but you have me interested now.

Ouch.

It was awful. Gave up 18 hits in 8 innings. Will Holland and Judd Ward went 3-5 and 2-4, respectively. The rest of the team was 2-29. Julien walked 3 times, Williams had a hit, and Wright had a hit. We left 11 runners on base. Just playing some terrible baseball right now.

Gotta strong feeling that if we lose the series this weekend, the team will completely give up and the wheels are gonna fall off.

Sad to watch.

Yeah you can’t even small ball your way to wins when you’re giving up 12 runs to JUCO squads..
