OT: Boogs Not Mens Softball

What are the Boogs chances here? We got two healthy good arms to throw at these losers?

Tanner was not going to pitch in the SECT so he may not be 100%. If he is that gives us a chance. Basically we need to win our first two games to have a chance because we don’t have the pitchers to get out of the losers bracket IMO. Our 3 biggest bats going into the season all have struggled. Holland has looked better as of late and Julien was a little better in the tournament. Will need them to step it up for post season play. Don’t love our chances to get out of this regional, but this team has found ways to win but games at times this year.

Like when I “emotionally” made a bet against UF last year. A bet that had both of your asses drawn up and I was very close to winning? Ill bet you more the next time I think we win a regional or a super. That’s why I bet it last year. Promise.
Yes that is what I was referring to. Auburn made it extremely close but the odds were in our favor Auburn going down in the first game at UF. Truthfully I wouldn’t have been upset about the money as more can be made, a trip to the CWS would have been more than worth a lost bet.

Probably 2/10 to win it. There’s a reason we are a low 2 seed. Ga Tech handled us twice during the season. Coastal is killing the baseball right now. Scored 80 or some shit in their tourney. Could make it to Omaha again with this Super match-up.

And I wasn’t upset about the money because I was confident we were going to Omaha. I was just wrong.

Yes but under one condition. That you’ll bet me a 1000 that AU goes to 5 straight Regionals with Butch. This is year three. So two more. You can’t even say this was a disappointing season because “you saw it coming from miles away” or some shit. So I assume it gets worse next year in your mind?
When did I say that? I will bet you 1k we don’t make the CWS in the next two years. You act like making a regional is some big feat or something

Do you know what “assume” means Rice? I made a comment recently where I stated that I felt the season was disappointing....and you said “I saw it coming from a mile away”....so I HAD to assume you think we are trending down. How could I not assume that?? I will bet you 5,000 that we make a CWS with Butch.

As far as making a Regional not being a big deal, three in a row for the first time since you had to get help buying beer. So maybe it’s a bigger deal at AU than you realize.

I also have to assume you don’t accept the bet I offered? I made my answer clear when I tried to change the original term you offered.

I’ll take action on us not making the CWS if someone wants to bet we do. Timeline being over the next 3 seasons after this year ends.

So I turned down one of yours and you turned down two of mine? Is my math straight?
I proposed the $200 bet on us not winning the regional and a 1k bet on us not making a CWS in the next two years and you took neither. Your math is most definitely wrong.

That’s right. 2 and 2. I forgot your thousand offer. I’ll take it for 1000
within three years straying next year. You game?

Lets do $200 since I don't know you haha. Also, if Butch is fired, you also lose. If he leaves for another job, bet cancelled. Deal?

That's cool. But I'm not going to send a goon after you if that's what you're worried about.[/QUOTE]
I'm not worried about that, I'll pay. I didn't want 1k because I still hope we make the CWS.

I'd be the same way if I was less confident and took your side. The other dude would much prefer we lose. And it ain't trolling. That's just how bad he wanted to be right about Butch. But Butch keeps dragging nutz on him. Hopefully that trend continues.

I haven’t even read this thread. He believes Butch sucks, or Galloway was better?

A little of both it seems. But mostly he just doesn't know anything about college baseball. He doesn't think it's an accomplishment to make three regionals in a row at AU. He doesn't think that Williams, EJ and Hollands seasons were disappointing. He claims he expected it somehow. It's laughable.

Some of you appear to be missing out on the high quality ignore feature this site has to offer.

I’d say not great because both Coastal and GT can slug the ball. So it puts a lot of pressure on Burns and Owen to get deep in their starts.

I think we can score some runs on Coastal. So, if we can keep their offense at bay and not get into our bullpen, that’d be huge for game two. But you have to win game one to get to game two. Probably our only chance to win the regional is to start 2-0. That likely means a dominant game one performance that doesn’t expand our bullpen and using whatever is necessary to win game two. Just don’t know what that leaves for games three and beyond.

If we lose one of the first two, I don’t see us winning the regional.

Will be interesting and fun to watch. I believe Tech recently lost their Sunday starter for the remainder of the year, so after 2 games, not sure who they would start.

Im kind of hoping to see Owen go in game one and Tanner in game two

9 SEC teams made the tourney. 6 Regional Hosts. Four SEC teams finished the conference season with a .667 winning percentage or better. All four are National seeds.

10 teams. Florida was one of the last few in. The 6 hosts plus aTm, Auburn, Tenn, and Florida.

From a pitching a defense statistical perspective, we’re the best team in the regional at allowing runs, just ahead of GT. Still, we’re ranked 47th in the 64-team field in that category while GT is ranked 49th. Both CCU and FAMU are ranked 60th and 64th respectively.

Unfortunately, GT and CCU make up for their runs allowed struggles with offensive production. Their run differentials are top half of the field while Auburn is 58th. Basically, Coastal and GT make up for their mediocre pitching by their slugging. Auburn doesn’t do that as well. So average pitching and mediocre hitting produces a weak run differential.

The positive I take from that is no team in this regional is so dominant in any particular category that there is an obvious mismatch between any of the top 3 teams. So, it probably comes down to which team puts together the best three days of complete baseball. I think we have just as good a shot to win this regional as GT, but I think the same could be said for Coastal.

Coastal was struggling before they went on their run in the Sun Belt tourney. Hoping the run was just a fluke

They got to play the conference tourney on their home field, which would seem like a massive advantage. They scored 80 runs and hit 18 HRs in the tourney. Not sure the dimensions of the ball park, but 18 HRs in 6 games is a ton. They'd hit 69 all season to that point. So HR power wasn't unusual, but averaging 3 per game in their last 6 games doesn't seem sustainable.
