OT: Boogs Not Mens Softball

I haven’t given up on the season. Anytime you can make a regional and have two starters like Burns and Owen, you have a real chance to win it. I think we’re better suited for a super regional because of the pitching issues, but in either scenario, we need the offense (all 9 guys) to be productive. Right now, we have 5-6 guys hitting pretty well. Julien and Williams are just brutally bad right now. If that changes at all, we’re a tough out at a regional.

I thought Williams may had broken out of his funk after going something like 7 for 18 against Vandy and Bama.

He was terrible against UGA.

Julien has been a strike out machine

He and Julien accounted for 9 of our 29 total strikeouts on the weekend along with their combined 0-18 at the plate.

That's a pretty big gamble taking one of our top relievers out of the mix, but maybe staying in the game longer will be enough of a benefit. I kind of thought we might be trying to save Fuller for the midweek game, I guess Butch didn't want to lose another one. I really felt like he should have gotten the start over Fitts on Sunday.

Hell, I was thinking we were saving Brooks for Thursday, basically saying whoever between Fuller and Fitts didn’t start against UGA would get LSU. Didn’t really consider either starting the midweek game. I like it, just wasn’t expecting it.

I too thought he should’ve started over Fitts. He’s been better as a starter, although neither has been dominant or all that great as a starter. Fitts has been much better out of the pen. Starting Anderson is a big risk though. If he goes 4-5 and we lose, then he’s probably burned for the weekend.

The one thing we did see this past weekend that was good was Greenhill going 4 strong innings. My guess is we will try to piggyback him off Owen or Burns and just use him once for the weekend.

I have another hiring option for our hitting coach should we decide to replace Gabe. Bill Cilento from Wake Forest. No idea if he’d come here, but I like his style. Some of the HR numbers are a bit inflated by the 300’ fence down the RF line at Wake Forest, but he recruited to that. He could recruit to take advantage of the monster too.

Sounds like Butch is panicking already to me

This team is becoming pathetic. Have to go to extra innings to beat North Alabama and then show zero life against LSU. Get no hits in the last 6 or 7 innings

How about this stat? Saw this posted on another site. We’re 21-0 when we allow 3 or fewer runs. We’re 29-5 when we allow 5 or fewer runs. We’re 2-17 when we allow 6+ runs.

Well, we’ve put ourselves in a must win spot to sleep easy tonight. Will be extremely close otherwise but history will be on our side because of our RPI. We have the pitching arms rested and ready that we would’ve asked for in a must win spot before the year started. Now we need them to show up big and for somebody on the roster to hit the damn ball.

Been a disappointing season in many ways so far but when you can make a regional with a mediocre team, in a dominant conference, you know you have the program on the right track.

Disagree. Some of us saw this coming from a mile away.

Read my post again and see if you want to change that response. It makes no sense whatsoever. Surely you’re smart enough to see that if you check again?

Are you not disappointed that we had some big hitters regress? Are you not disappointed that we lost a starter after him pitching two innings? Are you not disappointed that two other starters missed multiple starts in league play? Come on dude. You’re trying way too hard.

Looks like we’re the 8 seed in the SECT. Almost managed to stay out of the bottom half of the conference

And people that know baseball knew that we could be a Top 25 type team and finish there. I don’t think we are as good as our RPI says we are but all your babbling is still weak. You’ve been proven wrong. Again. And it’s going to get worse for you the next few years!

So Gus exuding mediocrity in the toughest conference in the land is unacceptable, but Butch doing it is great! Got it

I wish I could say “you’re better than that”. But you have proven time and time again you’re just not. See you after the season DAmeat.

Big win for our boys today. Got up off the mat and if nothing else, proved one thing. They are nothing like a few of our sniveling, sandy vag, bitch “fans”! WDE and on to another Regional.

we played 10 SEC teams in baseball. 9 of those teams should go to the NCAA tournament. Bama is the only SEC team Auburn played that won't make the .NCAA tournament

Auburn played 3 teams in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Ole Miss that didn't make bowl games last year. That accounts for almost half the SEC games Auburn played in football last year

8 of 10. USCe won't make the NCAA tournament unless they win the SECT

Elliot Anderson and Bailey Horn teamed up for a nice W yesterday. Not sure who will be on the hill today against Vandy, hopefully not too much PTSD from our trip to Nashville.

Kyle Gray is starting for us and facing Mass Hickman for Vandy. Hickman closed out the first game of the Vandy series and had been their midweek guy all season. We’re the only SEC team he’s faced all year. So this will be our second time seeing him.
