The way we lost that game earlier today reminded me of our first round hoops matchup with New Mexico. The HYGS, made a ton more mistakes than the baseball club today, but still pulled out a DUB. Crazy how good we were at this time last year & I thought we had brought in enough players to be right back where we were, but what the heck do I know.

People I blame in order that I blame them:
1. Pitcher. Your job is to point to the ball and sprint to the plate.

2. Woley - wtf are you doing? They already scored. Don’t dive and throw the ball wildly.

3. Scheffler - don’t spaz out man. You blocked the fvcking ball.

@DufnerFanBoy any word on where we go? Any chance it’s East Carolina?

My guess is Louisville, ECU, or Ga Tech right now. We’ll have a better idea of how the seeding will look by Saturday. I think we will be a two seed at one of those spots, but we’re probably going to get the highest seeded host spot, meaning I don’t think we will get an exactly favorable draw (not that we’ve earned or deserve one).

Gotta go back two batters before for where I start. Second single of the inning, Ward throws to third on a ball that’s hit in the LCF gap instead of to second to prevent the trail runner from getting into scoring position. And WTF is Woley doing attempting that throw? I admire the awareness and hustle to get to the ball, but that throw never had a chance. Only bad things could happen on that throw.

Don’t really blame the pitcher or Scheffler. Just ridiculously unlucky to kick that ball away.

Yeah Ward’s mistake was particularly egregious as well.

The pitcher is 100% at fault. You’re taught to locate the ball for your catcher. You have the best view. You’re also supposed to sprint to the plate with a runner on 3rd. Instead of looking for the ball he immediately turned and looked at the runner while
Scheffler was panicking.

While I can’t argue the pitcher has to share some blame, you can tell he saw the ball directly in front of the catcher and looked away assuming it would be picked up. By the time Scheffler kicked it he made a quick point but was looking at the runner as he moved toward the plate. It was just a horribly unlucky play compounded by panicked mistakes.

You're right about what happened, but that's why you're supposed to point. You don't know when the catcher will and won't see it.

Not a horrible spot for us at all. I like the Super match ups as well. We’ve not been consistent the last month and a half and that’s probably not changing the next four weeks. But you never know. That’s why we play the games.

Pitchers getting hot at the right time can make an average team look really good. Hope we can pull it off

Wanna bet $200 we don’t win the regional?

I’m undefeated in baseball bets with @wcw3au1 and there’s a good chance we go 0-2 and get sent home before I squeeze any more money out of him
Still. Emotions will flare win or lose the first game. Especially if we win the first one and you come in to downgrade the victory. That’s when I’m striking.

Set the bet at over/under 1 wins this weekend. Betting a team to go 0-2 wont receive action.

Nah. @Slippin Jimmy was the one running off at the mouth about how good of a chance it was that we go 0-2. Its baseball, so that could happen, just seeing if he was all in on that or if he will back off his prediction.

I'll never understand why @Slippin Jimmy is a great poster on this board but insists on bringing demeat/rice level posting to baseball threads.

But he thinks it's cool.

Yes but under one condition. That you’ll bet me a 1000 that AU goes to 5 straight Regionals with Butch. This is year three. So two more. You can’t even say this was a disappointing season because “you saw it coming from miles away” or some shit. So I assume it gets worse next year in your mind?

Like when I “emotionally” made a bet against UF last year. A bet that had both of your asses drawn up and I was very close to winning? Ill bet you more the next time I think we win a regional or a super. That’s why I bet it last year. Promise.
