OT: Boogs Not Mens Softball

What did I say that wasn’t 100% true? We choked away a 4 run lead against an inferior opponent. Fact.

It's the whole reason you posted it. Just to troll.

Every post of yours in this thread is just to troll. But no worries. You do what you want. I'm just going to do what I started doing with demeat and not replying.

If you want to have a legit conversation on baseball, let me know. I'm in.

Is the baseball team supposed to be good this year?

Yes. Preseason top 20. We have some very talented freshman pitchers coming in (in the bullpen), and how far we can go will depend on how they progress.

But Davis Daniel potentially getting hurt in game 1 sucks. Hopefully it's just a scare and he is okay.

The SEC has 8-10 legit CWS possibilities. The level of talent in this league is crazy.

Great thread here fellas.... I see nothing wrong with calling out a choke if it is a legit choke. This should not be a sunshine pump only board.

Who are you talking about? I must have them on ignore, and I’m not hitting that button to show the ignored posters. When someone mentions a dumbass I automatically assume it’s the demeat guy. Obviously this is another moron.

Bats weren’t great, but that’s not crazy for opening weekend. Lot of good first outings for our young pitchers.

Thanks biggest surprise was Holland and Williams not hitting the ball well, with Williams really struggling.

Maybe not but that’s the price you pay when you can’t put inferior teams away

No lie, it was pretty frustrating the way we played Saturday and Sunday. I thought we pitched pretty well all weekend. Just couldn’t generate anything consistent offensively. Having Holland, Williams, and Davis not really produce much hurt. I don’t expect that to continue with Holland and Williams. We got about what we’ve always seen from Davis. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him replaced by the SEC opener.

Startinf rotation for the week should be interesting.

Tuesday: Skipper
Wednesday: Wade (tentatively)

Friday: Burns
Saturday: Gray
Sunday: maybe Horn

The depth is nice, but some of these new guys are gonna have to step up fast and be good.

Any word on the severity of the Davis Daniel injury yet?

Nothing yet. I’ve asked around, and no one either knows anything or everyone is being really tight lipped. He’s supposed to have an MRI today and meet with Dr. Andrews Wednesday. As @cookedw pointed out on the bunker, this wouldn’t be the first time Butch has taken a really cautious route with a pitcher. We did it with Mitchell last year early in the season. We did it the year before with Mize midway through the season. Hopefully, it’s the same type of situation and he will only be out 2-3 weeks.

Thanks. It would be really rough to lose him for the year. Fingers crossed he is ok, but don't like the sound of him meeting with Andrews.

Read this morning that he dealt with the same thing this summer at Cape Cod, which I didn’t know, and is why he left early. Hopefully, it’s truly precautionary, but that certainly isn’t idea if he’s already dealt with this recently.

Almost sounds like maybe we shouldn’t have thrown him out there so early in the season

Yeah, I don’t think him having the whole fall off was quite enough down time. Probably should’ve waited until the week before SEC play started so he’s be as fresh as possible.

So much goes into setting up a rotation that it would’ve been tough to wait until a week before to know if he could go. It’s going to be easy to say he shouldn’t have been out there in hindsight, if it turns out to be a major issue. Regardless, he was given the green light by the Doctors after his previous issues and we either have to take their word for it or quit using them.

I don’t actually believe that. It’s just the relationship Jimmy and I have about baseball discussions.

Skipper just struck out the side. 4 k’s through 2 innings. I can’t believe we didn’t hear more about him in the fall.

He was talked about a little, but everything I heard about him was he was consistent, not flashy. But damn if he hasn’t looked the part. Mark Fuller said on one of the broadcasts this weekend that coming out of fall and January that Skipper was the top freshman arm.

Really hoping Garrett Wade gets the start for tomorrow and that we can get that game in for the young guys.

He looked good tonight, didn’t he? Honestly, I didn’t know much about him. From HS, he was a lean, athletic build with room to fill out. Good bat control from the left side with some power potential. I’m not sure on the power potential at this level, but he looks like he could grow into that frame a little more. I thought he handled the bat well tonight. Would like to see more of him tomorrow and this weekend.

Yeah I think Wade and @Slippin Jimmy ’s new favorite player Dick Fitts are both getting some innings tomorrow.

Yeah Butch said in the postgame that Wade was the starter when they last discussed it before today’s game but that he wanted to confirm that with Coach Smith.

Also really excited about Will Morrison. Some baseball coach buddies of mine told me that he was the most difficult to hit guy they faced last year. His arm slot and movement is crazy. Basically made him sound like a better version of Coker. Not quite the same arm slot, but enough out to the side that makes it tough on hitters.

I saw him pitch last year and he was pretty nasty. He’s listed at 6’2” and 180 now. I would’ve guessed 5’11” 160 max. Regardless he could bring it.

Saw Will Fuller from Hewitt Trussville pitch Monday. LSU commit as a Jr. was throwing 90-92. Bright future.
