Big series this weekend. Haven't won a series against them since 2011 and haven't won a series there since 2004. We're 9-1 against them in the Capital City Classic but just 7-19 in SEC play since the CCC started. Gonna be a test since Bama has a lot of what really bothers us at the plate. They throw a lot of offspeed stuff. Here are the pitching matchups for the weekend.

Friday – Jr. RHP Casey Mize (7-1, 2.00) vs. Jr. RHP Sam Finnerty (4-1, 3.49)

Saturday – Fr. RHP Tanner Burns (2-4, 2.66) vs. Sr. RHP Jake Walters (2-4, 5.14)

Sunday – TBA vs. R-Fr. LHP Garrett Rukes (1-1, 1.02)

Also, there's a pretty good chance we play a DH on Saturday since the weather is supposed to be terrible starting late Saturday night.

Bama throwing a good round of BP for our boys tonight. Brad still looking out for the O&B. Trojan Horse.

Well the offense showed up tonight. Worried about Mize. He seemed fine in the 5th after taking the line drive off his pitching forearm in the 3rd, but it clearly bothered him in the fourth. And that thing is probably going to be stiff as hell for another couple days.

Yeah that’s what Butch gets for leaving him out there in a game that was clearly going to be a blowout

He didn’t consult with the pre-cogs prior to the game.

(Yes, that was a Minority Report reference. Great movie)

Looks like Bama is going to let the Sunday game get rained out and not play a double header today. Not sure why or how they can do that, but nothing has been scheduled and it seems impossible to make that scheduling change at this point.

Edit: and just as I hit post, they announce a double header. First game at 5 pm. Second game to follow 30 minutes later.

I'd say there's a better than 50/50 chance that the last game ends after midnight.

Just a thought...how many posts would we have in this thread if we’d lost 19-5 last night? Can’t guarantee an exact answer, but can guarantee it would be considerably more than we have now.

Bama is playing ‘Oops I Did It Again’ or whatever it is after strikeouts. Even AU doesn’t do shit that embarrassing

Well my Russellville FROSH boys gonna make the big time. Greenhill kid gave up almost $500K guarantee & David "One Nut Ward" son is in the starting line up for good, or so it appears. They are up the road about 30 miles, but we have two BLAKES from my little town that are on this staff that know them very well. Future is bright for BUTCH

Game 3 isn’t over, but so far, we’ve tallied 37 runs in 47 hits against the #4 ERA pitching staff in the SEC. I don’t really believe their pitching staff is that good, but that’s what the stats say right now.

My math was terrible last night. We ended the series with 44 runs on 46 hits. Just a really impressive offensive performance all weekend. And we still got some really good pitching performances too from Burns, Greenhill, Mitchell, and Daniel. Hopefully, Mize bounces back 100% and we play well this coming week. Huge series coming up against Florida.

Swept the worst Power5 team in the nation while channeling our inner Babe Ruth. @cookedw style logic leads me to believe we’ll easily take the series against @UF. Going to Omaha!!

We raised our batting average 38 points over the weekend. We hit .380 for the series against Bama, raising our SEC average from .199 to .237.

With MSU sweeping Arky this weekend and our sweep, we are now one game out of 1st on the West and 2nd overall

I think we’re going to end up being 4th after the weekend is finished. It only a game out of first. Arkansas and Ole Miss are 10-8. LSU looks like they’re going to avoid the sweep, win game 3, and get to 10-8. aTm is losing to Tennessee late, which will put them at 9-9. Good thing is we have to tiebreaker over aTm and get to play OM and LSU in our last two series. Still a lot to be decided.
