Hard to win SEC games walking 8 batters, let alone beat the best team in the nation.
I hate the loser mentality but we won one more than I expected.

I agree. When talking about the series on the whole, wanting to avoid the sweep makes sense. Once you win a game though, all that goes out the window.
IMO that series was winnable today. Now, it would’ve taken great pitching and defense, which we didn’t show today, and the offense to stay hot. But I think we could’ve won that game. And we started off the right way. If we don’t have the implosion in the 4th, maybe we keep the lead or scratch and claw and stay in the game. But we can’t give that many chances to such a good team and expect to win.
We have a pretty thin margin for error. We still don’t have a ton of consistent, reliable depth in the pen. The offense is up and down. And we seem to get mentally ****ed if we get down by 2, 3, 4 runs halfway through the game. It reminds me of last year’s basketball team. When things are going our way, we’re a helluva ball club. But when we see adversity, we struggle. Seems like we’re a bit of a mentally weak club that lacks leadership, which given our team makeup isn’t all that surprising.
I think we’re a regional team, but I don’t know how well we can do at a regional without the consistent pitching depth and the offense being so Jekyl and Hyde.
