OT: Boogs vs Florida in the Gainesville not men's softball Super Regional

I’ll offer mine, but I’ll wait on Slippin so as not to steal his thunder.
Fairly good year although coaching blunders ruined us in the end (overusing Casey, not being prepared for a middle school corners play, etc).
Would’ve been nice not to see us not blow it down the stretch and host a regional too.
But overall, I’m somewhat satisfied. Should have a decent roster to build upon. Just hope Butch can learn from his mistakes and actually help these guys win more of these close ball games.
Now that Slippin has done his thing, I'll add my thoughts. I thought this season was really successful. Winning a regional, making a super, getting to a game three and a win away from Omaha, those are all significant steps in the right direction for this program and great accomplishments for this team. It's also great experience for those returning. Throughout the Florida series, people kept saying the biggest advantage Florida had was the experience of having been there. Now, a lot of these young guys will have at least a year of experience in that environment, and that's something they can learn from and build on. And if we're in that situation again next year, that might make the difference.
It's odd that I still feel like this team overachieved a bit, even though I thought we could win a regional and get to a super. Making the CWS would've almost felt like fool's gold, although we would've gone through a tough path to get there. There is clearly talent on the roster, but I think about the lack of depth and how we relied on virtually 9-10 position players and 6-7 pitchers all year and feel like what this team accomplished is pretty impressive. Next year, I'm hoping to see more depth in the field and in the bullpen.
I do agree with a point Slippin made. We've been in position for two years to host a regional. Came really close this year but needed to play better in a few games to earn that hosting right. That is definitely the goal going into this season, and if we get close again but don't host, that will be a disappointment for me.
Looking ahead to next season, I think we need to build more depth in the bullpen and find consistency at the plate. We're going to have to rely on several new faces to pitch next year, but I think we're adding more quality. And I want to see us be more baseball smart in situations next year. I want to see us be more patient and productive at the plate with runners on or RISP. IMO we struggled in those departments against quality pitching this year. Whether it was too much aggression or too anxious, we lost our poise every now and then at the plate, and it cost us chances. Gotta improve there, which will help win those close games @Slippin Jimmy wants to win.

Yeah, I love that Casey is trying to get him to come back. That's awesome.
I hope we don’t overuse his arm during the offseason.

He did the right thing. These kids owe it to us boog fans to compete for the boogs until we are ready for them to leave. I think I speak for all boogs by saying we are not yet ready for him to leave.
