There's no reason why Burns wouldn't start Thursday right? He threw like 40 pitches Saturday and we can't afford to basically concede the first game of the series again.

I don’t think we’d move him up that much. If anything, I think we move Mize up to Thursday. He may actually take the ball from the coaches. Don’t think it will be too big a deal for Burns to start on Friday. But Mitchell is also in position to start on Thursday if we choose to go that route. IMO the starting role is much more fitting for Mitchell than the reliever role.

Why is it obviously tired???? Also, read the post again slowly. I said if the person calling the shots is going to change his strategy, which would be the case if he moved burns from Sat to Thursday, then I’d prefer to have Casey on 5 days.

I guess you didn’t watch him throw this weekend. Leaving balls up, breaking stuff not crisp, general demeanor. It’s pretty obvious if you have a keen beisbol eye.

Don’t know if he’s tired or not, but I’d be in favor of an early exit at the SECT to give Burns and Mize a week off before regionals.

We didn't concede. I mean, Davis pitched the best out of all three starters. We lost 5-4, which was the closest game.

Davis has a very small chance of getting it done against anybody's ace. He actually pitched better than he has in a while but he's still gonna leave way too many fastballs up in the zone especially ahead in Counts. That just can't happen.

Ole miss destroyed Mitchell so there's no telling where his head is at after that outing. I agree that he usually looks better as a starter.

Most pitchers don’t start on 4 days rest. If we are going to change our strategy, we need to start Mize on 5 days. That’s what I would’ve done last weekend, but I’m not sure it would’ve mattered.

4 days rest is definitely not enough for a normal start but with him only throwing 40ish pitches and it seeming like Butch is set on giving Casey his full week I think it's at least an option.

If in game pitches were the only issue I’d agree. Much more to consider with a starter though.

In Butch’s interview this morning with Andy Burcham, it sounded like they are considering throwing Mize on Thursday because of his short outing. Also said they could get creative with Tanner since he had such a short outing.

Florida roughed him up pretty good, and he turned around and threw a gem against Vandy.
