how can we make this happen? Maybe I'm just suffering from Gus TSD but I doubt we could do better than Sumlin. I'd role the dice to save that $10 mil buyout for BRUCE and the bball program.

Only SEC coach who's not an interim that I would hesitate to make the deal for. Not saying I wouldn't, just that I wouldn't be convinced it was an immediate upgrade.

Yeah there's clearly something wrong with him. Guy can corch an O and recroot though. Gus is a total zero. I'd be willing to take a chance to save the buyout money.

Listen our next HC doesn't need to be some awesome offensive or defensive guru. He needs to have the traits that make up a good HC:

- Establishing a winning culture from top to bottom (most important)
- Excellent talent evaluator of both coaches and players
- Invests heavily in developing coaching and player talent
- Agile/ability to adapt to ever-evolving game
- Great network/ability to build network
- Salesmanship
- Great delegator
- Solid knowledge of game on both sides of ball to contribute insight in strategy etc.
- Balls

Being good at X's and O's gets you the HC job but it means little to your success as a HC. Dabo, Urban, Jimbo and Saban are good for the reasons above, not because they were good X's and O's guys.

This is why you need a good AD that can do his homework and identify the best candidates and not just default to a list of former AWBURN coordinators or the media's list of hot coaching candidates. Maybe there's a dude in the Sun Belt or Mountain West who just needs the resources to flourish. JMHO.

Nah. I don't think he's any better than Gus, and he would cost too much. Would much rather have a dude like Brohm.

Thank GAWD our Dukes don't need to worry about this though.

Makes sense. Agree with all that but I guess all things being equal I'd like a guy that can corch up an O/ QB and croot the SE.

Yeah I'm saying if we could just swap corches and save each other the buyouts.

Really $10 mil shouldn't even be that big a deal with all the money football brings in.
