Jimbo wasn't my first choice last time around, but I would have been far happier with him than Gus Malzahn. I'm probably in a similar boat now, but would be ecstatic if we hired him. Imagine Auburn University going out and hiring a national championship winning coach away from a historically good program. Would be great.

Read a thread about this the other day and was shocked at how many AU fans don’t see him as an upgrade. Just blows my mind at how dumb some fans are. Of course most of them will claim he’s better than Saban if he ever coaches from our sideline.

The bunker is "the masses." Great over-reactions with every event. Jimbo is having a bad year, and last year wasn't great. We shall now overreact and forget that he has been phenomenal there and even won a national championship. It's ridiculous.

I’d love to have Jimbo. But a Jimbo without Rick Trickett and Charles Kelly. FSU has been dramatically worse on D once Mark Stoops and Jeremy Pruitt left
Kevin Steele has let it be known that he would stay at AU permanently as the DC regardless of who the HC is as long as the HC would have him. With Jimbo and Steele both being from the Saban tree, I wonder if Jimbo would want to retain him. We would need to bolster the recruiting on D a little more but keeping Steele and T-Will along with Jimbo would be perfectly fine with me. However, I'm still driving the Clark bus so don't forget about that.

That’s great news. I wouldn’t be against keeping the whole defensive staff. Even though Greg needs to start crootin some stud CBs

My only concern with Clark is whether he knows he would have to ditch half his staff for recruiters? He is a pretty loyal guy. His DC has been with him a long time.

I agree on both counts. We need a top notch OL crooter and corch, there is a huge hole to dig out of there. For DC, maybe T-ROB will be looking to spread his wings. I know it's WILL MUSCHAMP'S defense but T-ROB has been immersed in it. They've improved from 8th in the conference in scoring D last year to currently 5th in the conference. Not trying to JABA, just love Will's defense. I'd be fine with any proven professional or maybe keeping Steele (and upgrading crooters).

I have no shame but this needs to be posted and I can't post over there.

Getting back to the Jimbo train, while I agree he's an upgrade from Gustav, I'd want to make as sure as possible that his head was still in the game and he's past his personal issues. Of course you can't believe tronzbanter, but there is a lot of talk amonst the noleholes on tMb about his mind not being on the game due to personal issues.

Still, I guess Jimbo WITH personal issues is > paranoidcrazy gus...

Thoughts...?

Yeah something has appeared to be going on for a little while. Early on his recruiting was lights out and lately it has only been good. For us to compete with bammer and UGA we need him back on his A game.

Edit to add: I mean less from a team rankings perspective and more from an "his team has some holes perspective." When we played them for the title, there were no holes.

Part of me wants Jimbo, and the other part makes me wonder how much hunger he has left. Most (not all) head coaches seem to have shelf life once they reach a P5 conference. Just wonder how much drive that he still has in the tank.
I agree with this, though I think being the coach that gets to coach Auburn at the tail end of Saban's career might be enough for Jimbo, or some other qualified corch, to want to tie their wagon to us. Depending on new AD and amount autonomy of course. Plus need to make sure we still have folks not on the FBI watch list out 'crootin for us.

I agree with this to some extent. But I also think some coaches can be rejuvenated by a new job and challenge. Richt was complacent and burnt out in his final years at Uga and now he’s a much more driven. I think Jimbo could feel the same. Every year there are whispers that he’s not exactly happy at FSU. A new environment could get him going

Fair but this is boog U and JIMBO is a top 10 corch in the country by any metric. Croot some studs, corch up some QBs. It's what the man does. We couldn't dream of hiring better. And ftr I put the chance of this happening around 1%.
.

I hope AU doesn’t know who Corch Houston is!!! They already took our Softball Coach. Can you imagine CMH at a program like Boog U? My God, it is orgasmic just thinking of him at a power 5 soon to be power. I feel guilty even thinking about it. Be back in 5 mins as I stare at my Signature.

How do you feel about the Jimbo speculation?

My only concern with Jimbo is if he's gotten too happy with his success. I hope all he needs is a change of venue to get that spark again. When he's focused and driven, he's a helluva coach and a great play design/play caller.

He hasn't really had a QB that fits him since Jameis left. That's part of the issue. Feel like he could turn Stidham into the star that some folks thought he could be when we landed him. That's not going to happen with Gus obviously.

My thought is his Heisman caliber QB got hurt and he's handcuffed with a mediocre at best DC. The rest is just message board fodder. He probably could have had a better backup QB situation if I'm gonna quibble. Still won the OB last year. Not bad for a down year.
