It's taken them 20 years or so but UT fans fixing to get slapped in the face with the giant penis of realizing their program is the definition of mediocrity.

yeah this is the hire that puts them in mediocrity purgatory for the rest of time pretty much. Not a ton of home grown talent in that state. They can't live off the fruits of their own land. They need to get into ATL and other talent rich areas. Schiano ain't that guy. The anger the fans are about to have will turn into disinterest will crush them.

And if UF doesn't hire some people who can REALLY recruit Mullen won't do much more than yella teeth did. He's a better football coach, but you aren't winning big at UF without talent and nowhere really "recruits itself" anymore b/c the competition is too stiff. Is it easier to recruit there...sure. Will it happen with a staff of mediocre recruiters...nope.

MSU board making it sound like Mullen would take a large portion of his current staff with him to Florida. No idea if true.

The WEST about to be in flux. TAMU is a sleeping Giant about to wake. Peeps we need to BOOG hard while we can. That fan base, That oil $$$, Those facilities. I am shuddering fam.

I'll believe it when they get it together. They've been in "sleeping giant" status for 30 years and other than some conference titles under RC Slocum they've been mostly bad or mediocre...which is bad with their resources. Something about that place just seems like it's artificial, like it's a house of cards made to look and sound like a power but without the actual substance culturally to pull it off.

Fisher would be a really big hire and he could be really good there. But he'd need to win recruits out of Louisiana and as always, he has to have a QB. I'm not convinced Mond is moldable. He's got some Frazier in him when it comes to not seeing what the defense is doing IMO. You can't coach that out of kids to me. If the college game is too fast for their minds its just too fast. The other QB's look more like Jimbo types to me. Better passers, better feel for the pass game and more cerebral. Jimbo cannot coach someone with low football IQ at that spot. It would give him an aneurism.

I’ve been pondering why aTm doesn’t have great seasons like AU does occasionally. I’m convinced that Bama being great forces Auburn to become great. It’s a strange curse and blessing having Bama be dominant

Seems when they were in the Big12 they had plenty of other schools having good seasons. Not sure what their hurdle is but if they couldn't win it with JF, I doubt they can.

It doesn’t necessarily explain why aTm doesn’t get over the hump, but I can’t think of any huge advantage Auburn has over them, yet AU finds ways to be great and they don’t

Remember when most all of us were bitching about having both uga and Bama on same home/away schedule? I don't think 13 or this year happens if we play any of those games away.

I don’t think Tubs is a genius or anything but he once said something to the affect that a lot of the recruits in Texas are overrated and need to be evaluated differently.

Interesting. TX seems to produce a lot of good QBs but I haven’t looked at how other players pan out. Would be an interesting comparison

TCU, Baylor (With Briles) and even Houston seem to be able to get their guys. UT and TAMU seem to have horses at times but almost guessing AU type internal influences seem to derail them. Dunno if they become uncoachable because of the egos or if they have yet to have a headstrong enough staff to curve the issues.

Tubs wasn’t saying that there wasn’t talent there just that the rankings can be misleading. His argument was that Texas High Schools have a lot more money than most schools in Florida and Georgia so kids get better coaching (some schools have huge staffs) and had access to college level weight programs so those kids are way more developed. He said they’re already closer to their ceiling than some of the kids from poorer regions in other states so they get ranked high even though they may not be as talented
