OT: Random thoughts and posts

Was pretty proud of myself that I’ve biked over 220 miles the past few weeks, then I jump on Twitter this morning and:

Now I feel like a bum again

Boom as HC, Gus as OC at AU could have potentially been a championship program. Gus as HC and Boom as DC at AU, still an 8 win program.

Neither is a championship program, IMO.

Both are 8-9 win a year programs

I’m sure that we have a dedicated Coach Boom thread. Would be a massive upgrade from Gus we all know that. South Carolina is the worst program in the SEC historically despite the HBCs run. Won more than 8 games 7 times in their history.

I have an acquaintance who was an Ultra runner. 100 Miles was a warm-up for him to get ready to compete. He's also a little crazy, which I think you have to be to even consider it.

Yes. I'm just tired of being a 8 win a season program and that is what both of those coaches are, IMO. They just look differently doing it.
Even if this were true one looks like a ball coach and the other looks like a gum chompin lunatic with big tits. That matters.

I'd much rather have Boom than Gus.

I just don't work to fire Gus and replace him with Boom for at least 4 years

Well we missed our chance to get rid of Gus a couple times. Almost certainly stuck with him for at least 2 probably 3 more years. Nobody gonna stroke him a check for $20M+ to leave.

Bill Clark is making less than $1M a year. I could see AU going after someone like him to make the buyout a realistic option.

Unfortunately you can't be a big time program and pay your coach a modest salary anymore. It doesn't matter if Auburn hired a cardboard cutout of Larry Fedora, they would pay him a top half SEC salary, which is $4mm+.

When Gus is gone from the Plains, AU has to find someone who can build and manage a program. Wins are great but overall team depth and consistently competing for SEC championships is a must if AU hopes to be relevant in the postseason. Of course now your talking about a perennial top 10 program which still likely won't satisfy most fans because of how successful Saban has been. Still seems to fall within the Mark Richt UGA days.

Maybe AU should move it's campus to VA.

Maybe AU should just ̶b̶e̶c̶o̶m̶e̶ remain a basketball school.

Didn’t little Billy Pilgrim Clark just sign a big fat new contract with a big fat new buyout too? Not saying he’s unattainable but he’s on more than a milly now I believe

That’s with HBC and Lou Holtz. It’s a step above Vandy as a program historically. About equal to MSU. Which means shitty all time.

He got a raise after this season. Feel like I read his buyout was around 5 million too but I can’t find it
Gotcha, I must've been looking at an article on his old contract. Either way it's chump change compared to what we're paying now and more than likely smaller than any coach we'd be going after. Bob Stoops is probably the only possible candidate without a buyout.
