Not gonna lie fam, it's a weird Thanksgiving. My grandparents that hosted Thanksgiving my whole life passed away over the last year and no one in the family was feeling it. My parents went to TN, my sister went to NOLA and the wife and I are just hanging at the house getting Christmas decorations out.

@Fatz Geronimo what are the cliffs on people talking about impending doom of the main board, and all the general angst going on over there? I read it sometimes but don’t keep up enough to know what’s going on
idk, I have very little inside info but I like riling up people and getting them to turn on the new mods so I like saying shit like the board is going away or yahoo is trying to shutdown the board because it makes people freak out
this is gonna be long so I’ll spoiler it...
what I know - the old mods were all removed, that’s not a troll or a long con... they and a few other regular posters have had a private message group for years and somewhere along the way I was added... they were legit removed as mods basically overnight and replaced by the new “genmod” account, but no one knows who the new mod or mods actually are - a few of them think it’s the current jv board mods, which I could see because...
what I’ve heard - the plan is to eventually merge the 2 boards... so for now they can play semantics games of “this board isn’t going away” and technically be correct, there will still be a Main Board, just not the way we currently think of it
I have no idea if that is actually true - they’ve talked about it for years and never done anything... either way, as far as “general angst” the mod change happened just a few weeks before RB’s suicide - which is a completely different thing - but has caused an equal amount of general weirdness on the board for a lot of people... and also involves a lot of the same people because he and the old mods were so close... he was in that pm group and we had a huge, multi page discussion on suicide 10 days before he killed himself, which just fvcked all of us up even more
anyway, most of the current “problems” - and I quote problems because this is really a bunch of high school girl gossip shit - but the problems would be alleviated if the new secret overlords actually told anyone what is going on... the board is getting out of control because people who aren’t regular posters on the board are now moderating it - they don’t have a feel for the board, and there’s no accountability for them and no way to discuss anything with them because they don’t post, they only use PM’s and will just ignore you or stop replying (that part I do know from experience)... they also really aren’t even moderating it at all other than removing threads with thread titles they feel are offensive, or just in poor taste
finally, there are a handful of people who felt unfairly targeted by the old mods and feel like they now have free reign to shitpost up a storm... which they are taking full advantage of, and which is how we got to where we got last night
with some lunatic shitposting multiple threads, all talking about RB’s suicide for reasons unclear
and with a mod nowhere to be seen
I feel dirty even typing all of that... I need a break

The suicide of RB is awful all around, hate it for his friends and family.
I chalk the rest of that up to internet world being a strange world that probably doesn't make much sense when explained in real life, but makes sense in the e-arena.

the handle was originally created by a guy on the Bunker... he never posted on the mainboard and eventually his buddy, Bett, started posting and took over the handle... that’s why there’s probably some confusion on the bunker
the guy who posted on the bunker is a Boog and alive and well... the guy who posted on the main board was probably the most beloved poster I’ve ever seen on any board I’ve been a part of and committed suicide in October
it’s a really weird feeling reconciling feelings towards a person you’ve never actually met but we’re closer with than most people you’d consider real life friends... it’s some morbid Black Mirror shit

yes - and for as much shit as people give/gave the mods, they at least kept it somewhat in check... continuous shitposting would get you a threadban, or a short ban... so at least you wouldn’t have threads getting derailed by the same 20 righty loons responding to the same 1-2 lefty trolls in every single thread
it wasn’t to “silence” opposing thought - it was the easiest way to let those threads die merciful deaths... but now they just blaze for days and days, and spread like wildfire
@Harvey Specter how simple was it to do your intro thing for your podcast? Did you just play around with it or did you find another link to show you how to do it through audacity?
It took me a while, and I still think someone that knew what they were doing could make it sound better.
I just looked up some article on how to make the audio quiet in certain parts of a track. Then just used audacity and had one track of the song, and one track of me talking with the intro. Then just moved my voice track to the part of the song I wanted it to be, and quieted the song track in that part. I think when recording it, it's easier to do two tracks that way, then you can output an MP3 from that Audacity project, and import that MP3 file as one track on episodes that you do.
It's that icon just under "Analyze" and "Help" on the toolbar, with the two little arrow things on either side of the line. You might've already known that, but that's the part where you can make tracks quieter and softer.
I literally renewed my sub the day that RB passed. Seems like it’s been a complete shit show over there ever since. Were the former mods compensated for all the BS they had to put up with? Can’t imagine it would’ve been much, if so, and that’s about as thankless a job as I can imagine.
The worst thing to ever happen to that board was the advent of likes and DM’s if you ask me...

I like the pm’s but likes was the worst thing that ever happened... take them away and remove the number from everyone’s current profile and 75% of the shitposting would disappear within a week
