OT: Y’all pray up for Rod bramblett. Involved in a terrible wreck

I’m glad those kids are going to get lots of money that will mean very little to them right now, but I also kind of hate it. How many people struggle through life with the loss of a parent or both parents? We read about it and go “aw that’s sad” and don’t do shit. But some guy who was probably rich and with insurance dies and random people give them 100’s of thousands of dollars because they heard this guy on the radio? I know this is cynical as shit, but we worry about the people who need the least help and step right over people in real need. Probably should wait a year to post this to make it less shitty or something, but I don’t really care.

I get your thoughts, but it also assumes these kids don’t need the money, which might not be the case. Unlikely but possible that they weren’t as taken care of as they could’ve been. The Brambletts could’ve been putting off this planning or more detailed planning for other things. When this fund started, the goal was $25K. So I wonder if they needed to raise money to help pay for initial final expenses, something that isn’t always planned for (at least not early in life). They probably didn’t envision this kind of money being raised.

When you see this fund raise over $200K and the murdered police officer’s guns have a third of that raised, I can see where people can get sideways about this fund being set up.

Yeah this is a better way of pointing out my issue. It really isn’t so much that they are getting what they are getting, it’s just that so many people face things just as tragic or worst and we (as a society) don’t do much, but this guy’s family is getting a ton because of some kind of boog celebrity.

You summed up what's been rolling around in my head for the last 24-36 hours. I'm going to try to assume that all of the folks who donate to this will do equal or more for the neediest in their communities buy my inner asshole says it's more than likely not the case.

It is odd and go fund me’s always peeve me. I enjoyed Rod, but it If anyone cared about their family or financial plan, they’d have at least 1M in life insurance at the very least. With that said I hope his family will find peace in the tragic deaths in their family.

Yeah, I read all the “they’ve raised $50k in just over 2 days” posts and I’m thinking, please tell me this guy and his wife had $1M each in life insurance. At their ages, some term would’ve been next to nothing and would take care of the kids financially forever.

Go Fund me just seems sketch. Makes me think of that dickhead WarBlogle raising money so his broke ass could go see the boogs play in the natty.

Plus this seems like something that could go through the university in a more official way. You know those kids are gonna be taken care of don’t need a gofundme set up by some rando who might just keep it all.

At least they are doing this fundraiser for kids. Liberals raised three times as much money for the woman who accused Kavanaugh of rape. A grown ass woman with two or three college degrees

Andy Burcham, who is now the guardian, is the one who started the GoFundMe. Not quite the same as Blogle's handout to get to the natty or some random bunker member starting it. With him being so close to the family, I'm wondering if he saw there was some need for assistance. And given that it started out as a small number, I don't imagine they ever thought it would get to this point. I wouldn't be surprised if this were turned into a scholarship fund or used in some other way instead of going directly to the kids.

To each their own, but when something happens to me, my child will be sufficiently taken care of by me and the people left in charge of her. I’d much prefer people donate to the less fortunate and the many who can’t even afford a burial. People would be shocked to know how many poor people have to borrow money just to bury their loved ones. I also see a lot of fraudulent insurance policies that older people paid on for years and now those companies no longer exist. It’s sad. I’d be shocked if the Bramblett kids weren’t set up for life before the generous gifts of AU fans.

Ah. Well that’s good. I always thought these are just whoever is the first person to put it out there and get traction. If people want to give money I got no issue with whatever that amount comes to.

If it makes you (or your inner asshole haha) feel any better, I donated to them, but I also hand out as much money or more to homeless people on the streets in DC every year.

I didn’t donate, mainly because I would feel bad about donating to this cause and not to another, and I ain’t got enough money to donate to all the ones that probably need it! I do think there are situations where people are more in need than others, but I can’t hate on people for donating to any of them.

I hear where y'all are coming from, but I'll never discourage anyone from supporting a good cause. I donated not because I think these kids need money, but to let them know that a ton of people cared about their parents and want to support them in this tragic time. I agree that the less fortunate deserve more attention and resources, but a small gift to the Bramblett's isn't going to preclude that.

I am not sure if it has already been posted but the police have apparently ruled out alcohol and phone usage as factor in this accident. Some people are now speculating that the kid fell asleep

Sleeping but going fast as hell to kill 2 people by hitting them in the rear. You would think he would have to be going 70 mph or so.

You don't have to take a 30 minute nap to kill someone while driving. Just nod off for a second.
I’d be lying if i said this hasn’t happened to me before. Kinda scary to snap back up and realize you don’t know what happened the last second or two

This seems like a good thread to let people know that I am willing to sell a kidney to the highest bidder. Reserve price is 50k plus medical costs and plane tickets to where we can get this done.
gonna need to know your blood type and drinking habits and how many forms of Hepatitis you have before i'll even think about offering on this kidney.

Well those folks are assholes in every sense of the word. Bad shit happens to good people sometimes and there’s no one to blame. It’s why they call it an accident. The kids already going to have to live with this shit for the rest of his life so fvck the folks who are making these BS negligence claims against him

Now that he's admitted he fell asleep it seems like he would be guilty of involuntary/negligent manslaughter, at a minimum.

Finally had a chance to watch the memorial service. A touching tribute to a fallen AU brother and his wife. Just a terrible loss and he will be missed. War Damn Rod

Just read that the kid was going 91mph. Wasn’t the crash downtown or close to it? Makes sense how the crash was fatal but how do you crash into a stopped car going 91

91? jesus christ

I kinda rolled my eyes at the marijuana thing yesterday... I’m not sure how you know he was “under the influence” or if it was something still in his system from days/weeks before

but 91 mph? yeah - go ahead and lock him up for a good long while
Where I'm at as well. Was giving him the benefit of the doubt until that piece of information.
