Bruce previews it here.

Espn gives Boogs a 92% chance here. Hopefully they knock em out early and Danjel gets some good minutes.

I'll be in attendance. We need a bounce back game and UGA is the perfect opponent. Need a convincing W and build some confidence to go back on the road to TAMU.

Gonna need a really good performance. This team needs a confidence boost and a run of games where they don’t just get W’s but look like the team we all think they were going to be.

We need a run of efficient shooting and low turnovers. Less boneheaded plays like Samir commiting a stupid hack in the backcourt while they are in the bonus or Malik dribbling around the back and out of bounds for no reason or the bigs being incapable of catching a pass.

I’m just starting to get rankled by our play over the last month or so.

We have all this alleged depth but Jared and Bryce are having to play almost 40 mins just so we can get blowed out at OM. I don’t want to go down a dark hole about who’s not here but I thought Samir would rotate at the 1/2 and we’d be able to get those guys a breather on the reg so they aren’t gassed down the stretch.

Thought Danjel would be a plus SEC starter at some point and he’s just not even close to even being playable in a conference ball game.

Anfernee not 100% and a liability when he was one of the most productive players in the SEC last year.

Jvon has his faults but he’s one of our few guys that can beat somebody off the dribble. I don’t know why he’s not at least useable for a few mins w/o Jared on the court.

I’d never question Bruce or Steven but our rotations seem fugged up. I mean do I still think we cutting down the nets in Minneapolis yes but I guess it’s gonna be a grind.

I'm with you man. And even worse I think the decision to not rotate the guards is making us MORE dependent on them and making the rest of the team defer to them entirely too much. I would have rather spent the last month taking some licks and looking bad at times in order to keep #1 and #2 fresh and also develop the rotation and get everyone used to their roles. But instead we've relied on them much more than that and I can't understand why.

Nearly everyone sans Danjel has had one really good game where they showed what they can be. Some of them have played well half the time and others only in 1-2 games. We need guys to just be better more often. You can't have Samir be bad 5 straight games or Bryce be bad for 4 in a row. Why can Mac have one good game and then go right back to looking completely out of it. That's a bad sign to me. I'm not sure how or why that's happening, but it's a problem that needs to get sorted out. Right now this bunch looks like one of those teams that says they are hungry and thinks they are hungry but in reality they just aren't willing to do the dirty work or focus as well as our opponents.

It's kinda weird though that it's hard to find the right balance to rotate. Last year after Mac goes down, were down to rotating 8, and it seemed we got too tired at the end of the year.

Now we have 10, and it seems we're just getting in our way.

I guess the answer is that 9 must be the sweet spot.

Yeah and I get OM was perhaps one of those games where your best have to play more but Samir logged 0 mins at 2. We ask Bryce to do way too much on D for 36 mins. Malik only gets 13 and he was by far our best player.

Sucks Danjel had to sit 9 and that his game is apparently trash right now but I definitely thought those last 4 OOC games would have him ready to give us 10-15 decent mins by now.

In any event trashing UGA today would make me feel a lot better. I don’t expect us to out effort everyone like last year and that’s ok we don’t want to burn out before March but need to get our execution and rotations sorted out.

The only answer is more Malik. Give him 12 shots a game and he’ll average 16 per and set the tone for the rest of the team with his ballsy play.

Yeah well it’s like we have 10 but Danjel isn’t playable. Seems like the only run Jvon is getting is just a desperate attempt to get Jared/ Bryce off the court for a few seconds. Samir is only playing 3 so we have no guard depth with the current rotations.

Mac isn’t Mac. Horace is out of position at 4.

Our most rugged, improved, cocksure player Malik is getting scraps at only 3.

So we got 10 but really it’s more like 6 right now. Maybe 7 when Ho is at the 5.

Hopefully the friendly confines of the Clam give us a chance to get some things sorted out.

First order of business is getting Malik more run and Samir more at the 2. That should be an easy one.

Malik is our only "junk yard dog" persona right now. He's not quite as strong as Murray was in that department but he's got some fight in him and tons of swagger. We need someone else to be more nasty, more determined, more willing to do all the dirty work and be the glue guy type. Lots of times last year Murray inspired guys to play harder with his effort I think. We need some of that back.

Ho a dog. He’s gotta be ahead of Mac at 5 now.

More Malik. More Ho at 5. Less Ant. If I’m Steven I’m cramming Danjel in at the 4. Maybe you put him out there with Malik to hide the fact he’s a puss. Let the young stud get loose on O we give up a few buckets so be it. Tired of grinding out games in the 70s that not boog ball. We play in the 80s/ 90s.

Boogs by 13. Closer than it should be. Still searching for a leader, as this roster doesn’t currently have one. Need more Dunbar if he can keep it under control.

Agree on Ho. And he needs to be at the 5 and not the 4.

My proposed solutions would be
- More McCormick at the 1, getting Harp more rest
- More Samir at the 2 getting Brown more rest
- More HO at the 5 and less Ant until he proves he can be physical and active
- More Malik

I'd even look again at some runs with a version the small lineup we used with some good results last year. Harp/Brown/Samir/Malik/Chuma with Chuma at the 5. Chuma can hold his own defensively against some C's and he's a nightmare for them to cover on the other end.

would be nice to have another dog... maybe a hellacious defender who played angry and played bigger than his size and could backup both Jared and Bryce and was dependable enough you could get them plenty of rest... wonder where we could’ve found a guy like that

:(:(:(:(:(

positive thoughts though... Malik should be the primary backup at the 2, 3, and 4... we need his toughness and energy and chaos... Malik and Horace are the only guys on the roster who force everyone on the court to feel their presence at all times... I know that sounds like a dumb thing to say, but at its best, the energy on a basketball court pumps up teammates and makes opponents uneasy, and we’re missing that... teams are way too comfortable against us... Samir brings a little of that too, he’s just not the physical presence of Malik and Horace

anyway, minutes breakdown something like

Jared 32
Bryce 32
Chuma 30
Samir 25
Malik 25
Austin 25
Horace 15
J’Von 8
Mac or Danjel 8 and to cover foul trouble

beyond that though, we can’t keep playing stretches with Horace, Mac and 2 of J’Von/Samir/Malik on the court at the same time... we should have 2 of Jared, Bryce, Chuma on the court at all times... we have way too many stretches with 1 guy, or 0, on the court who can help someone else get a shot - and if those lineups aren’t defending and rebounding and running for good transition looks - they’re helpless to score

the pieces are there, and we’re gonna have a stretch when they fall into place and no one wants to play us, so I’m not worried... I just want it soon, because it’s frustrating watching the HYG’s flounder against some of these bum squads

I'm here I'm here LEGGGGGGOOOOOOO

Oh look Bryce still thinks he should dribble.

goddamnmotherfvcker Chuma... just move your feet and stay in position and if some bum makes a shot or 2, that’s fine... but at least make him prove he can score before you go full retard

Ho is so damn rugged just bodied that bum under the goal then laid it in. Mac looking soft throwing up bricks. Good start though I guess. This is the time to get Danjel some run with Chuma sitting the rest of the half.

I went to a lot of games last year and never noticed Mustapha was the leader. I always noticed Horace and Malik. Not sure where the “Mustapha Heron leadership” is coming from.
