This is what I’m being told.

This is what I’m told by someone who donates more, and is more connected than any writer or member of the bunk.

It is not likely Wiley ever plays at Au again. Contrary to popular belief, AU wants to keep Bruce after this year. They believe due to his past violations at UT, playing Wiley will jeopardize Bruce’s tenure. Au is in the same situation alike Sexton at bama. Bama has just stepped up to the plate. Bruce has known all along about everything that has gone on, including person. We paid Wiley to come to AU, but it is covered up and not traceable. Due to AU having a really good start this year, they only see Playing Wiley as a risk. Bruce and AU compliance are doing everything to cover their tracks for the future, and that doesn’t seem to be with Wiley. He has been contacted by many teams in Europe, and may go or just wait for the draft. Wiley 100% has been cleared by NCAA and FBi.

Thanks for bringing this to the GREG brother. Keeping Bruce is the most important thing but if Wiley is cleared I don’t understand what good it does to not play him.
The team only having one loss right now is part of the reason why they’re not taking any chances. Believe if we’re better than we usually are, why risk it at all. I don’t believe it to be much of a risk, but Au will never truly go to bat for our b-ball program imo.

Keeping BRUCE is a huge step in the right direction. In the past it wouldn't be a question about firing the BASKETBALL corch to keep hut hut out of the eyes of the NCAA.

Yeah and I guess maybe the NCAA goes away if we just leave him out. Still everybody knows this team isn’t gonna reach its potential without Austin. Schedule has been super soft so far.

I think he would be cleared at some point but it could be too late by then. I agree that the administration never wanted to fire Bruce. The fact that his assistant was arrested and two staffers suspended, yet he’s still here is a good sign to me.

Edit: To clarify, I don’t think the NCAA has cleared Wiley, which explains my post. OP could be right though

I agree. I think we should play Wiley, but if we

I agree. A team with 2-3 bigs would give us serious trouble. Mac and Spencer foul more than a blind kid.

Yeah but what’s gonna happen is we won’t play these guys, then we’ll fire Bruce after the season, then we’ll go on probation. I’ll convince myself otherwise for now but that’s the Boog U way.

Meanwhile Bama prob go to the sweet 16 this year and be poised for a long run of success.

I’ll even share some great insight on how big boy recruiting goes. Most 5 stars know that if they go to UK or Duke, that will give them the best chance at making it in the pros. However, the child rarely is the one making the decision. A lot of them are from the hood and shopped to the highest bidder by Mom and daddy. A good example is MAmba of Texas. He wanted to go to UK, but his brother is even on record saying Texas just paid more. The NCAA of course did nothing, because they don’t care. Man I talked to gave one simple explanation, “No one gets a 5 star b-ball player without paying him in one or more ways”.

This should not suprise anyone. Same goes for football. Great high school players get paid. HC’s keep themselves detached enough from a traceable plausible deniability standpoint. Thats just the business. Has and always willl be. Any bigtime program that says their team does not pay players is just clueless, or just can’t accept the truth. These days some of the the big boys even require payment just for official visits. If you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying hard enough.

Oh, I agree. Bruce must get back to that to be successful.

My stance is we have a good record because we have not really played anyone to date. I don’t see us really progressing positively enough through league play to make a run without Wiley. I would rather play him and take the chance of having season scrapped if we get nailed vs not playing him and wondering what could have been. Put the ball in the NCAA’s court to show the proof. If they have it then we take out lumps. If they don’t we have a chance for a special season. We won’t do that. We will take the high road and finish mid pack and maybe play in the NIT. Nice participation trophy for our players and fans.

Yep.

One of the few 'inside knowledge' tidbits I ever knew was that Eric Bledsoe's AAU coach was charging the lesser schools (boogs, bammer, etc) like $5k just to speak with EB. Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, etc all got in the door for free though.

It's always hilarious to me when the super homers on tbb refuse to believe we pay players. There is no university in America that doesn't, except maybe the service academies, and even they probably have wealthy alumni who give the $$ handshakes. I had a friend from high school get paid by fuggin CAMPBELL COLLEGE to play b-ball.

But 2nd hand info from one of the asst coaches is that Wiley back in January and Purifoy done.

That would be a huge win for this team getting Wiley back for conf play. After watching our play in the paint through 10 games this year, I am both impressed and sold on what our 4 man big rotation going forward can be. Our guards are great. We present some serious mismatches with McL, Chuma and Murray playing inside and outside. What I really love is how we are playing as a true team. Defense and rebounding has been lightyears better than anything I could have imagined. Ok, now that I have popped a hard one I truly expect someting JABA to happen.

I hope we get Wiley back. I’m just not counting on it at this point. And if we don’t get him back, I’m worried about the team’s ability to hold up through a full SEC schedule with a 9-man rotation. With Wiley, I think we’re at least 9-9 in the SEC, probably more along the lines of 10-8 or 11-7. Without him though, I think 9-9 is about the ceiling. And an injury or suspension could put us in a really tough spot.

I hope this is correct but it just doesn’t make any sense to me. If we know he’s eligible, why wouldn’t we announce it? The sooner we lift the cloud off the program, the better off we’ll be recruiting, winning back some fan support etc. This has been a crazy month for sure.

Injuries are gonna happen. You'll have someone miss a few weeks with an ankle or something. That's just reality. For us, it needs to be guys we can most afford to lose and it needs to be in weeks we can most afford to lose them. We need to be lucky.

I'm still Mizzou until I see us playing 4-5 SEC games to see how we react

Maybe they meant they expect him then. Not sure
