How bad does it suck that Jared missing that runner against UK sent them on this meteoric rise? If that shot falls, I think win the next 2 games and drop no more than 1 game since then. Sickening that game proved to be such a turning point for both teams.
Well, they are beatable, but not with the way we have played this week. I am trying to focus on the fact that we appeared to have our shit together before the loss at LSU. Hopefully we can whip arky's ass this weekend and acquit ourselves well in a competitive game at Rupp. 10-8 in conference play is doable. Win 2 in the SEC tourney and that could put us at a 6 or 7 seed. Do not want to be an 8 or 9. If we could find a way to beat UT or UK, we'd have a shot at the 4 or 5 line given how strong we are in the computer polls.
Fair point. Bruce is typically good in a quick turnaround and might be good to not give another team a whole week to plan out how they can run 30 secs off the shot clock every possession. At this stage though, I would just like to see us make the 2nd weekend. I still think we have the pieces to make a run, but making the Sweet 16 would at least be a step forward from last year. Being a 5 seed gives us a better path so I hope we can manage to close strong enough to make that a possibility.
Avery is just good enough and has just enough personality and NBA hype to keep landing some great PG types. But he’s a bad coach. I wanted to like him as a Mavs fan but in the end he made that impossible. The only attribute he had was getting his teams to play hard, which led to overachieving regular seasons where they got W’s vs teams who coasted and didn’t play as hard nightly. Then we’d get out coached in the playoffs or really in any big game. He’s not up for it.
