Barnes to Tennessee? Despite what the national “gurus” are saying, I’m just not buying this. If anything, this will be leverage for him to increase his pay at UT with a new contract.
UCLA is not the job it once was. That program had extraordinary success from the mid 60’s to the mid 70’s. Since that time, they have had intermittent success with 1 title in ‘95. LA is first and foremost a professional sports town. The college sports fans there are fickle if they aren’t winning (see USC football & UCLA basketball). Another thing for a potential coach to consider is the cost of living along with the outrageous taxes, but I guess if you are making millions, you can afford them. I’m sure UCLA will reach out to Bruce, but I just can’t see him taking the job. He is on his way to making the Tigers a perennial contender in the conference and on the national stage.

The tax issue is like 1/10th the expense compared to the cost of living. LA is absolutely absurd in every single way. The mansion he's likely living in around Knoxville would equate in price to a 3 bedroom house that was built in the 1960's and has been only halfway updated in LA. Every meal cost 3x as much. Every everything costs that much more. And that's if you and your family completely ignore the "LA lifestyle" and keep yourself away from that kind of rat race.
But the biggest issue for UCLA isn't the cost associated, its the expectation level at a place that has shown little appetite for competing at the level required to win titles. You can't just make some Sweet 16's there and everyone stay happy. Once they think they've hired the right guy the expectations and demands hit UK/Duke levels overnight. Not sure anyone with any sanity left in them really sees the value in that when UCLA isn't seemingly interested in backing you up with the right support to get there.
I can’t see UCLA plucking Barnes. Would be pretty hilarious if they did though.
As far as Bruce I assume even Boogville isn’t dumb enough to let him get to the end of the week without a lucrative deal that makes him Head Boog for life. He had some comments I heard recently that indicated he still has some animosity towards UT when they canned him. Don’t think he’d be interested anyway.

Well fudge me. UCLA is such a joke right now though. They fired their coach in December and it looks like they had no idea that they actually needed to put some thought into hiring someone else

Frank’s personal likability to trash style ratio is off the charts. Love the dude and his polish free demeanor, but won’t miss that ugly brand of basketball.
Interesting move by LSU. Not sure if this is a contractual issue or not. The way the AD worded it sounds like they were worried about not being able to fire him for cause. Doesn't sound like they think he didn't do it, just that he denied it and there is no hard evidence money changed hands aside from him saying it did. I seriously doubt the NCAA will look at it that way and LSU will get hard for taking this tact.
