(Just like Chiz and his staff did.). Gus has managed to lose 4-6 games in 80% of his seasons with those strong recruiting classes. That’s all anybody needs to say about Gus.

If Gus didn’t bone up crootin elite dual threat studs hand delivered by international sports icon Cameron Jerrel I’d probably give him a litttle credit. We’ve got some fine Arbun men in assistant roles that have what it takes at least.

just looked him up. Seems to be a big discrepancy in his ranking. Rivals and Espn both have him in their top 100 and 247 has him all the way at 577

Don’t know anything about how good he is, but I think it’s a good indicator that Gus doesn’t have much faith in either Malick Willis or Gatewood being the man next season. And he doesn’t want to start a true frosh in Nix. So 25 yr old baseball guy, cmon down

Obviously he could still get it together at some point, but this was my biggest knock on not wanting to hire him. I know a guy who worked for him who swears he is bipolar and that it hurts him in recruiting.
Had to take a look at the crootin rankings and no surprise Jimbo and Dameyune got the #2 rated class.
But doesn't look quite as good when you realize how many commits they have compared to the rest of the country (minus Ole Miss). And more non 4/5 stars than 4/5 stars.

Well Gus would never have the 2nd ranked class at any moment and obviously Jimbo is the superior crooter. Just a fact there no need to poopoo what he and Dameyune are doing on the trail.
I’m just not sure. I could see him doing well with the QBs he will get from Texas. But like When he was at FSU his problem will he can he get a defense needed to win in the sec? He had a good enough defense to compete against big games but you need to do it for the whole season in the SEC. Wake Forrest and Boston college won’t be on the other side of the field anytime soon for him now.
I just think he's overrated as a coach. And that's just my opinion. He benefited GREATLY in terms of record and in recruiting because both UF and Miami were ass while he was at FSU. Besides Alabama, he had the most talent of anyone in college football and he almost always found ways to shit the bed except for one year with Winston when he had an NFL two deep. And even, Gus should have whooped his ass.
I could easily be wrong but I just don't see him getting too far with A&M. HIs abrasive personality is also gonna rub fans the wrong way if he doesn't build the monster they think he's going to as well
