******Official Boog Recruiting Thread******

Last year's LSU is what permanently drained my spirit.

@Slippin Jimmy - don't you dare bad mouth Butch.
Convinced a draft eligible spitcher to turn down a lot of money to come back.
Got us to Supers for what the 2nd time ever?
Took a kid not drafted out of high school and turned him into the #1 overall player.
Has quickly raised our talent level from that no good Sonny.

I will not stand for this blasphemy.
I’ll not derail this thread any further. We have plenty of time to discuss Butch’s shortcomings once basketball cuts down the nets

Put a poll on tbb. Next oc..

I was gonna joke and put D Craig as well but started thinking about and, crap, if gus wants to call the plays and have a puppet OC then bring him back as the OC. He can get stud recruits for us, especially at WB, and he couldn’t be any worse of aQB coach than what we had.

I hope we're recruiting a center. You'd think Kim will transfer this year after getting beat out. Kim will have one year to play some where. I can see Sharp doing the same thing too except he is behind Price who is the same year as Sharp.

I wouldn’t call anything JBG does “recruiting”.

And sure enough, Gus will be shocked when his Sun Belt-tire OL isn’t physically capable of “executing” again next year.

I think the Stutts kid from the last class is a Center

I'm assuming he means Handy. Apparently Handy's account tweeted, "My recruitment is still open". But it was quickly deleted. Uncle Keef reached out to Handy, who said he deleted because he didn't tweet it
I’m not sure who Handy is.. the only recruits I know right now are OP, Pickens and Nix. And apparently Pickens posted some picture that had people in an uproar today. Lol

Pickens needs to run, not walk, away from our commitment list as quickly as possible.

Can’t stand to watch that kid waste away under Lolzahn.

yeah. that's what it was. Good to see that it was a joke or whatever. Kid's still being pursued by every big time school so he must be damn good.

I feel like the RB thing shades more towards bad luck than mismanagement. Losing Roc, Jovon, and Peyton Barber all in one off season really set them back. Then having Alaric Williams not qualify in that next crootin class added more to the problem. Basically set the position back a few years. But they should definitely have addressed the issue sooner

Your RB coach should be an elite recruiter. Period. If we were signing elite backs every year then none of those things you mentioned would be a problem for this season AND we would have had a stud to step in for Kerryon in the SECCG last year.

Recruiting deficiencies impacting running game

Bryan Matthews • AuburnSports.com

AUBURN | There are several factors negatively impacting Auburn’s running game this season including some key recruiting misses over the past several years.

The Tigers current starting offensive line includes one graduate transfer and one former defensive lineman. Last year’s starting line included two transfers and one graduate transfer.

Over the last four years, Auburn has signed just 12 offensive linemen, which includes zero 5-stars and nine 4-stars. AU has signed just two Rivals100 offensive linemen over that period in Calvin Ashley, who’s currently the backup right tackle, and Tyler Carr, who left the program before the start of this season.

How do those numbers stack up against Auburn’s two biggest rivals?

Alabama has signed 16 offensive linemen over the same period including five 5-stars, seven 4-stars and seven Rivals100 players. Georgia has signed 18 offensive linemen including three 5-stars, seven 4-stars and five Rivals100 players.

It’s a similar situation at running back. Auburn’s top running back this season is former 2-star JaTarvious Whitlow, who was a late addition as an offensive athlete. The Tigers have signed six running backs over the past three seasons, which includes five 4-stars but only two Rivals100 players in Asa Martin, a true freshman, and Devan Barrett, who moved to cornerback this fall.

For comparison, Alabama has signed five running backs over the past three years, which includes one 5-star, two 4-stars and three Rivals100 players. Georgia has also signed five running backs including two 5-stars, two 4-stars and three Rivals100 players.

Auburn’s starting offensive line against Southern Miss included 4-star defensive lineman Prince Tega Wanogho at left tackle, 4-star Marquel Harrell at left guard, 4-star Nick Brahms at center, 3-star Mike Horton at right guard and UMass graduate transfer Jack Driscoll at right tackle.

The Tigers are ninth in the SEC averaging 178.6 rushing yards per game with Whitlow and 4-star Kam Martin combining for the majority of the carries. AU has allowed 10 sacks, which ranks 10th in the SEC.

Bit of an arbitrary timeline there for Bmatt and a negative interpretation of the facts with regard to RB crootin. Start the timeline at 2015 and he has to give them cred for a 5 star and 6.0 4 star in Jovon and KJ. Plus he didn’t include Joiner in his list either (who was a 4 star). Kinda dishonest

No way to sugarcoat OL recruitment though. It’s been terrible since Gus got to AU

Probably didn't include Joiner since they said they didn't recruit him to play RB. You also wouldn't include Jovon since he was a JUCO guy who wouldn't be eligible to play this year even if he hadn't gotten kicked off the team. KJ left after his junior year, which is a pretty accurate timeline for an elite RB. I think using the last three recruiting classes makes sense. Certainly not "dishonest."

I think 3 years is the right timeline.

So now rice is actually saying saban is a terrible coach and he only wins b/c he has more talent than everyone. He does have more talent..but Im pretty sure all those trophies and rings say hes a good coach as well.

So he should’ve included players who are no longer on the team as an explanation as to why the team’s OL and RB’s suck?
well, he included Tyler Carr in the report and he was a 2015 signee who is no longer on the team. Might as well as included Kerryon and Jovon.

I think part of the article was attempting to illustrate a lack of high star powered players and if he'd had included them it would've weakened his point.

I really don't care. I just find Bmatt's "reporting" kind a funny sometimes since he fluctuates from being a huge home and making fun of the bunker for being irrational to being the exact thing he criticizes sometimes. He's just a hack imo.
