OT: 2019-20 boog hoops

TOOS reports that
"*Jaylin Williams looks like he is going to be physically strong enough to contribute at power forward during his freshman season. In addition to being six-foot-eight, the newcomer from Brantley County High in Nahunta, Ga., has long arms that should help with rebounding and contesting shots.

Williams also looks like he is in good shape physically and runs the floor well so he shouldn’t have any issues playing in Auburn’s up-tempo style."

I mean 60-1 sign me up for that action. Stay healthy this squad waltzes back to the final 4 for a coronation at the Benz Dome aka Clam East.
Here's a pic I took of the coaching staff this morning in boogville. Is the 601 merely a coincident? No way. More nets to fall.

Breathtaking. Have a feeling this child is gonna do his part filling the Chuma sized hole in our hearts.
Expecting so many steals that lead to thunderous tomahawk clam Jams. I guess it’s a rarer thing nowadays but it’d be such a delight if he broke a rim or shattered a backboard with one of his throw downs.

Yeah I’d like to get a stiff off some HYG content. There’s a free article about Austin getting fit and raining 3s. Presume the same can be said for all the HYGs.

I won’t go word for word but I’ll give the general points.

Flanigan is looking really good. 3 point shooter for sure, big body for the wing.

Jaylin is looking extra hulking and can also apparently shoot. Funky shot but goes in. Great athlete.

Turbo still can’t go live.

J’von looking quick per usual. Flashing a better 3 point shot too.

Wiley is looking more fit, faster and also hit a couple 3s

Purifoy knocking Down 3s and getting boards.

Jamal has a smooth shot

Okoro is a freak child. Leader in the clubhouse for most HYG imo.

No major notes on Mac.

Sounds like a bunch of HYGs are ready to fill that 3pt hole that Bryce and Jared left behind.

Gotta feeling that sweet Danjel is gonna be putting up 6-7 3pt attempts per game

** Allen Flanigan is taller and thicker than the average Auburn 2 guard. He was also playing some 3 today. He has a smooth, quick release and was knocking down some 3’s.

** Jaylin Williams made three consecutive 3’s during one drill. Has a nice shot for a stretch 4, and as I’ve mentioned previously has the length of a much taller player. Also had a smooth jump hook inside during 5 on 5.

** Turbo (Tyrell Jones) was practicing but he hasn’t been cleared for full contact yet. Javon Franklin was also limited as he returns from a JUCO injury.

** Auburn again spent a lot of time and energy on defensive drills. Bruce Pearl was very animated during these drills, which is not a surprise with so many newcomers. Players responded and were very vocal during drills.

** They still have a temporary new 3-point line and Pearl was encouraging his shooters to pull up well behind it just to get used to the range.

** J’Von McCormick was very quick, assertive and was knocking down some 3’s. I think he’s going to step up and be more of a volume 3 shooter this season, which AU will need with the departure of Bryce and Jared.

** Samir Doughty really stood out when they did 5 on 5 full court, had some nice drives and rebounds. Learned afterwards that he had a root canal earlier in day.

** Austin Wiley looked impressive to me again. Physically, he’s bigger and quicker and he was even knocking down some 3-pointers today. Had some monster dunks and rebounds during 5 on 5.

** Danjel Purifoy was playing mostly 4 and knocking down shots. Had one stretch during 5 on 5 when he made a 3, rebounded a miss at other end and then came down and drilled another 3.

** Jamal Johnson has a nice, smooth shot from outside. Isaac Okoro looks like he could suit up for the football team. He’s probably been the most impressive newcomer so far and is definitely a potential starter. Overall, this year’s team just has a lot more bigger athletes on it compared to previous years.

** Here’s how they lined up in one drill: 1 J’Von McCormick, 2 Samir Doughty, 3 Isaac Okoro, 4 Danjel Purifoy, 5 Anfernee McLemore. 1 Jamal Johnson, 2 Will McCoy, 3 Allen Flanigan, 4 Jaylin Williams, 5 Austin Wiley.

** And here’s how they lined up in a fast break drill a little later: 1 Turbo 2 Samir 3 Okoro/Flanigan, 4 Danjel, 5 Wiley. 1 J'von 2 Will 3 Jamal 4 Jaylin 5 McLemore.

** And another lineup during 5 on 5: 1 J’von, 2 Samir, 3 Okoro, 4 McLemore, 5 Wiley.

** They ended with a 3-point shooting contest. The 3-man team of McLemore, Purifoy and Okoro won round one. Samir, Turbo and J'Von won round two. The losers had to run more sprints after each round. Then they shot free throws when everyone was gassed.

** Wiley made a final free throw, which forced all the coaches to do 25 pushups instead of the players.

God damn guys. Really wish Bruce and AD Greene would have resurrected the throw down in Toomer's thing this season. Was such it pity it got canceled last season becasue a mild splatter of rain. Just really need to see the new hygs in action before the season officially starts

Not sure why it can’t be... oh wait... probably because 100 million dollars just disappeared and no one has any answers as to where it went.

gang, just re watched our hyg's run in tourney and I still get nervous at hte end of regulation in the UK game in the elite eight.

Every rewatch of some of those hightlights though convinces me more that sweet McCormick is ready to take over for SBJ. That young man is just electric
Ha same. I’ve rewatched the Kansas game prob the most. I’d have the UNC game on loop for eternity if it wasn’t for the unfortunate incident I’ll not bring up. UK game haven’t watched nearly as much as those 2 and of course can’t bring myself to rewatch the next one even though it’s still saved on the DVR.

I wish. Some asshole flagged the games on YouTube for copyright infringement. I wish I could enjoy the mastery.

Jvon
Samir
Okoro
Danjel
Austin/Mac co starters
Yeah can’t see anything else. I’d start Mac if I had to choose one there. Def expect Turbo and Jaylin to be in the rotation. Prob Flanigan and Johnson. Not expecting too much of the other 3 and then of course we got that striking walk on HYG. I’m sure they could all contribute but that’s a solid 10 man rotation.

Yeah will be interesting to see how minutes get allocated this year. Easy guesses are Jvon Franklin and Akingbola will be front row for the HYG show but not participating. Everyone else kind of has an obvious starter and backup except for Okoro. Flannigan and Cambridge may battle it out for some minutes I guess
