OT: 2019-20 boog hoops

so did Harper though. That's the negative with undersized guys at the PG spot. Though I'll take 10 more Jared Harpers for the next 20 years and be happy with the results.

Purifoy is going to need to be Chuma-like, but probably taking more shots and be more assertive on that end. We lose so much. You aren't going to replace that with newbies very easily. Wiley needs to be 10x the player we've seen. Danjel needs to be the Danjel we saw down the stretch + more. McCormick needs to be the guy that picked us up a few times when Harper was in foul trouble. Samir needs to be the defensive menace he was in the tourney. We're gonna be in trouble if any of those guys fade back.
Totally agree, Austin is gonna need to stay healthy and produce, Jvon, Mac, Purifoy and Samir all need take advantage of the confidence they gained from tournament play and really think we need to find Grad trany that can play the wing and can rebound. The newbies should help provide a spark off the bench. Hoping johnson can make an impact after sitting for a year.

But he speaks the trooth

I don't have much problem with this particular statement. This isn't the kind of thing that really does any damage or cause any issues in a locker room or whatever.

That said, kid on social media is a coaches/SID's nightmare. I'd be sweating anytime I saw that he posted anything. He's got zero filter and doesn't seem to grasp how things will be seen through any other eyes other than his own and he's also incredibly thin skinned. I've been blocked for 2 years from his twitter acct because I tweeted that his defense was the part of his game that needed the most work and he had to name search to find that cause I didn't even know he had a handle at the time.

But none of that will keep him from being great if he puts in the work. Durant is so thin skinned he has like 15 fake accounts that he capes for himself with, name searching anyone that drags him on anything. So maybe thin skinned scoring 3/4 is just a position now.

man, i get it. wouldn't want to have to deal with that head ache either. That's why i refer to social media as "selfish" media. The level that one can tailor their realty is quite ridiculous, to the point of the "Kings New Robes" ing yourself.

Still not really sure what we did to deserve this, guys.

having to share the state with mouth breathing fans of that other big state school is a good start. We had to deal with 2004. We've been punished by the perfect storm leading to Saban landing at bama. Had to deal with the insanity that was hiring a 5-19 head coach to combat Saban and then replace him with his OC who can't formulate complete sentences, much less game plans. And that's before mentioning the decades of awful basketball that was taking place over most of my lifetime.

I don't know about you guys but I feel like I deserve a few more years of Bruce Pearl and hoops success. Auburn owes me that much.

indeed, still not sure how UAT continues to draw studs to turdville. Avery could definitely recruit, so in that since was not as bad as Shula, but his coaching was pretty lack luster at best. I hope AU can dominate the rivalry for at least another year or two and give Bruce the chance to continue to shine before their program starts to hit its stride again.

My translation

"Ira ain't found no other job and ain't in no hurry to find one but we don't have enough hard evidence to fire him for cause on this so we're just gonna pay him until something settles out"
What's strange though is his one year contract already lapsed.

Returning 5 seniors from a final 4 squad and a highly ranked incoming cruitin class. Can’t believe the level of disrespect the cbb source god is showing us
Starts to lose me by the time they get to Kansas and then just have to chuckle at Baylor/ LSU. Boogs are conservatively a top 10 club but I suspect I’ll have them quite a bit higher in my rankings.

I love it. I want that chip on our shoulders again this year.

I want this team to be a mix of Horace's grit and grind, Bruce's risk taking style and Bryce/Jared's supreme shooting confidence. Not sure you get that if we come in big-headed and over confident. Need a little chip...a little bulletin board material. I love that Bruce somehow can meld the "junkyard dog" element while also having high flying, talented guys who can shoot the lights out of it and score a ton of points. Most junk yard dog teams try to win 62-58 but we got that same grit and want to beat you 98-82.

ira Bowman has been reinstated.

AUBURN, Alabama — Auburn assistant basketball coach Ira Bowman is back at work this weekend after nearly three months on the sidelines on paid leave.

Bowman is actively involved with arguably the basketball program's biggest recruiting weekend in history, as several 5-star and other blue-chip prospects visit campus, a source tells Auburn Undercover. Bowman was spotted by reporters with recruits on campus Saturday.

Bowman was placed on paid leave as officials looked into allegations that he was a participant in a scheme that led to bribes by a parent to get their son on the basketball roster at the University of Penn in 2015. Bowman was hired away from Penn by Auburn before the 2018-19 season.

Bowman was placed on leave March 13, just days before the SEC Tournament.

Update (2:18 p.m.): Auburn confirmed Bowman's reinstatement Saturday afternoon.

"After a thorough review of all available facts and information, Ira Bowman has fully resume his role and responsibilities with the Auburn men's basketball program," according to the statement released by Auburn's athletics department."

The news of Bowman's return comes less than 24 hours after Auburn university president Steven Leath said a decision was coming soon.

This is what we need. When you don’t f@ck up and hurt us, we don’t need to hold it against you.

Mark Murphy piece on the newest HYG

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas--Coach Jason Flanigan says that the Auburn basketball team is adding a player who will help the Tigers win games during the 2019-20 season.

Javon Franklin, who played for Flanigan at Holmes Community College, plans to be in Auburn this week to begin preparations to enroll for classes on the AU campus after announcing on Friday a commitment to the Tigers.

Franklin, a 6-7, 218 forward, is from Little Rock, Ark., where he played for Coach Al Flanigan, the father of Jason Flanigan and Auburn assistant coach Wes Flanigan. Al Flanigan's grandson, Allen, will be a freshman on the 2019-20 Auburn team.

“I have been watching Javon over the years going back to when he was playing for my father in the ninth grade,” Jason Flanigan said. “He is a family member--he is like a son to me.

“He is a great kid, a humble kid,” the coach pointed out. “Javon is a hard worker like all of the guys that come through that Parkview program. He was fortunate to come over to Holmes and be a part of the Holmes family.”

Franklin was the Most Valuable Player of Parkview High’s 2016-17 squad as he averaged 16 points, 8.7 rebounds per game.

“He is a defensive guy who makes plays--rebounds, blocked shots, steals. He makes game-winning plays and he is a player who can help Auburn get back to the Final Four.”

On Friday following an official visit to Auburn the forward committed to the Tigers, saying he also considered West Virginia, Memphis, ECU and Oklahoma State. He has since signed scholarship papers with Auburn and has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Franklin received recruiting attention this winter and spring despite playing in just one game this past season after suffering a broken bone in his leg when he was landed on in a pileup during a game. Auburn had already been recruiting him before that happened after Franklin averaged 10.8 points and 8.2 points per game as a juco freshman he received an offer from the Tigers.

“He wanted to play in the SEC from the start,” Jason Flanigan pointed out. “I think Auburn is one of the better programs in the country. Bruce Pearl is a great coach. Javon is excited about the opportunity he has at Auburn.”
