OT: AUBURN BASKETBALL

if Sweet Baby Jared is back then we can afford to bring Chuma along even more slowly... no need to rush that big beautiful treasure

really interesting to see the backcourt minutes between Samir, JVon, Tyrell, and Jamal... that’s a fuggin battle... we’ve essentially split all guard minutes between 3 guys this year with Jared the primary backup 2 and Samir playing mostly the 3... if he moves to the 2 next year, that’s a log jam - which is why I like him still getting minutes at the 3 backing up Okoro to help spread out those minutes... it probably means a Flanagan redshirt though... I also, knowing little to nothing about Jamal, wonder if he’d be able to play spot minutes at the 3

regardless, Tyrell is the one from that group I’ve got my eye on... and haven’t even mentioned JVon, who has earned more time, which we can provide if Jared plays more 2 with Bryce gone

just an embarrassment of riches in the backcourt

could potentially start the year with something like

Jared, JVon, Tyrell
Samir, Jamal, Tyrell
Okoro, Samir, Flanagan
Danjel, Jaylin, Chuma
Mac, Austin/grad transfer, Stretch

by the end of the season those backup guard minutes could be anywhere and Chuma will be the best 6th man in college basketball

where’s next years Final Four?
That’d be just ridiculous. If I’m being greedy would love to add an extra big but then again don’t want to part with any of the current HYGs. Either way we going back to back with that group.

this is the openign day lineup I was thinking if Chuma couldn't go early. That's a potentially four senior lineup with a senior in Jvon and guys like Austin and CHuma coming off hte bench. Would just be ridiculous it winds up like that. Probably won't because it's college hoops, but my god it'd be the most talented boog hoops squad of all time

yeah, almost no chance it happens... after Davion, I’m not counting on anyone to return from 1 year to the next... if someone unexpectedly transfers, that’s just part of college basketball

I mean, we’d be bringing 2 of the most talented players in Auburn history off the bench

but, we’re also playing in the Final Four this Saturday, so BRUCE is making the impossible far more likely than we ever dreamed

I've been preaching this on that other board for years. You cannot look at roster in March and start projecting depth charts for next year and who plays where and end up very accurate in college hoops. Someone you were completely unprepared to see leave is going to transfer. Most of the time it's that Davion like transfer that kicks you in the nuts. Sometimes it's kids getting kicked off the team b/c the offseason is too much fun. Some recruit doesn't qualify or disappears to Africa and can't come back.

I don't trust anything until school starts back in the fall semester and even then I'm cautious for a bit.

definitely... if we end up with a solid 10 man rotation, we’re good... right now we’re looking at potentially 13, which is perfect because we’re gonna lose 1-2

also, after BRUCE pulled JVon from out of thin air after Davion left, 1 - unexpectedly, and 2 - so late in the process... I’m never going to doubt anyone he finds and signs

The crazy thing about J'von is that early on I wasn't sure he would be able to give us any good minutes in a tight game and now he looks like a complete stud. Agree though, in Bruce we trust.

yeah, his performance at LSU was terrifying... he legitimately couldn’t be on the court... it was a full blown Jeremy Johnson level debacle

it wasn’t until the Florida game in the SECT that I started trusting him again, and he’s just gotten better and better since then

Some decent breakdown stuff in here. A quote that basically confirms there is Auburn negativity that kept Bryce and Jared from being first teamers.

can Auburn stay hot from 3?

motherfvckers, we just beat Kentucky making 7, shooting 30%... we were up 2 at the half on UNC shooting in the low 30’s, we didn’t get hot til the 2nd half

Auburn doesn’t have to “stay hot” from 3 to beat any of these trash bums... we ain’t even been hot and we’re in Minny

if we get hot - we’re beating any of these bums by 15... and the only reason it won’t be more is because they’re so overmatched they crawl the ball up the court and sit on it for 30 seconds

Some more ridiculous national reporters not doing their research. BP / Boog U isn’t involved in the upcoming trial

Pretty corny, but I’ll allow it

who are these people who sit around in meetings... all day... and work on this shit... and not 1 person speaks up and says “we’re doing too much, cut the fat”

Threes and Trees

or... Threes = Trees

done... you’re welcome... less wordy = less corny, which, I know is hypocritical considering how long winded I am... but I’m not putting my posts on a fvcking t-shirt

Don Draper is rolling over in his grave

Man I sit in on meetings and calls for young/startup type brands every week trying to work on branding and slogans and I gotta tell you the % of dumb things that are entirely too wordy is stunning. From people with not only degrees in marketing, but with top level experience and a resume that would impress you. But they cannot stop outthinking themselves.

Deshaun Davis aptly sums up the difference between AU hut hut and BASKETBALL.

And DD was probably one of our hardest working football players. He's the guy that made the absolute most out of his athletic ability. Even he sees something different with what the hoopsters are doing and the work they put in.

Leadership matters. Bruce vs Gus isn't even a contest worth having.

Didn't know where else to ask this but with AU and TXTech making the Final Four does it help the Under Armour brand in AAU and elsewhere?

I think anytime teams playing in playoffs or championship games rep certain brands, it has to help. I mean just the pure repetitive exposure of the brand. I certainly think UA is happy that they have two of the four teams on that national stage.

Don’t tell Rice that. Lol

I'm sure there are going to be hundreds of transfers out there and Bruce is already set to clutch his next pearls.

Starting the year with 4 new starters at minimum. Gonna be a weird transition but will be cool learning a bunch of new faces.

We need another guy like Brown bad though

Well Samir and Danjel have started games, but I know what you mean.

We need an elite scoring option. I don't know that it has to be a volume 3 guy like Brown, but maybe.

I think we'll see Samir get a shot as one of the team's shooters next season

Yeah maybe but he’s got a lot of work to do in getting himself open and also elevating more on his shot. That set shot ain’t gonna cut it if he’s the volume shooter

I will never doubt Bruce's ability to coach a guy up, but I don't think he will ever be a volume shooter. I do think he can knock down open looks and also be a guy who slashes and helps create for others though. Also showed that he can be a valuable defender.

Between the two of them, Bryce and Jared averaged 16 3pa per game last season which is roughly half the team total per game. I don’t think anyone is just gonna step up and replace that nor do I think we’ll average over 30 attempts per game next season. Assuming we get Sharife Cooper, he’ll put up some threes but my understanding of his offensive game is that he’s great around the basket, finishing with both hands, and is one of those annoying (for the other team) type players that’s an expert at drawing fouls and getting to the line. Jvon is also not gonna rain threes. At least I don’t think he will. I think you’ll see Danjel’s volume go way up though
