OT: AUBURN BASKETBALL

Starting the year with 4 new starters at minimum. Gonna be a weird transition but will be cool learning a bunch of new faces.

We need another guy like Brown bad though

Any idea who the transfer jhead hinted at on tbb is? Sorry if y’all have talked about that already. Busy day so just doing a fly by this morning and no time to read everything.

We are hoping it is Rayjon Tucker.
He has indicated Tucker and a grad transfer PG are both in the mix. J Lee posted today that Gilder from TAMU is a possibility as well.

Bruce is a saint for taking only $3.8 million. He easily could have demanded $4.8 and then waited as pressure built from our fans to get the deal done. Gus would have been negotiating during the tournament and threatening to leave for UCLA or Ark before the final 4.

He’s just the best. Meanwhile he owns the shit out of Rick Barnes who’s never gonna do anymore than he’s done the last couple years at UT. Gotta suck to be them and see us with BRUCE.

Hope he finally finds his potential. Many times he was timid in the lane. He was better against UVA but needs to gain some confidence.

he was so much more fluid and athletic when he finally came back in March... his legs may just never allow it to happen, but if he can go through an entire offseason healthy, he’s going to be a monster at the start of next season... then it’s cross your fingers and hope you get 6 months from him

I know people are ready to give up on him and say he’s a bust, but it’s not the numbers or production that gives me hope - it’s the eye test... just little things - moving his feet on switches or hedges, recovering to make blocks or contest shots off the ball, quick little bursts to get position for a defensive rebound

he’s still got terrible hands, but the best thing he can do to fix that is feel 100% healthy and be able to move and play without overthinking or overcompensating for his lower body... plus, being able to split time with Mac and play 15-25 minutes a night depending on matchups is the best thing for him

if anyone thinks Danjel was a welcome surprise and regrets giving up on him too early while our dumbasses were telling you to just wait, it’s coming, the flashes are there, don’t make the same mistake with Austin... because all of the pieces are still there - the only question is will his legs cooperate for 12 straight months

Agreed. If he stays healthy this offseason, Austin will be a very important piece for us when the season starts. With him available, no team can dominate us in the paint. In December/January, he showed flashes of being able to be a consistent offensive thread. The NC State game in particular he was clearly our most effective weapon. Early in the elite 8 game against UK, he had a couple of buckets that kept us in the game when nothing else was working. Unlike the other meetings with UK, Austin's presence was a big part of them not being able to run rough shod over us in the paint. We are at our best when we don't need to rely on a traditional post game, but having that available is a great thing in games where shots are not falling.

I'm down on Wiley but I'd love to see him make me a believer. I think his biggest hurdle right now, as you hit on, is not missing time. The hands issue, the bringing the ball too low...a lot of that can be improved in a significant way if he just gets to practice and play constantly. Some things only get better with court time. Most of Wiley's issues seem to fall into that category to me.

My feelings is BRUCE is the very definition of being cocksure, and he had no doubt in his mind he would get us here from the very beginning. We believed, but he KNEW.
Cocksure -- having or feeling no doubt or uncertainty; confident and assured; "felt certain of success"; "was sure (or certain) she had seen it"; "was very sure in his beliefs"; "sure of her friends"

Dude is a treasure. Not many guys could have built a basketball powerhouse completely from scratch.

WOW...Great share @FormerlyKnownAsSOLLY

CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND: I went straight cold turkey on the junk food last April & ain’t coming back, but I found one of those huge barrels of cheese balls in the Boog Den during the UK Regional Final game. Well I started eating them like a fat baby eats cake the last five minutes & they were still at the foot of my ottoman until the wife asked me to dump them last night. Hung on as long as I could Gents. Maybe should have had them mummified.
