OT: AUBURN BASKETBALL

Somebody get up in here and answer this for me about RPI & how it all works. We play the Ole Misses twice & UF only once, so it is good that OM beat them today, or so I would think? Do we not need every conference team we play twice to beat teams we only play once? Or does this not even matter so much?
It’s good for us but the way we’re Boogin doesn’t make a ton of difference. Big for our chances at winning the conference more than anything.

Honestly, with the strength of the SEC this year (in terms of RPI), it doesn’t matter too much who wins and loses. Almost every SEC team will have a solid RPI. Some will have very good to great RPIs. There will be parity that the RPIs won’t fluctuate too much.

Someone tell me how much higher this boog team is gonna climb in the AP poll when it comes out

Quick glance but it looks like 6 or 7 teams ahead of us lost at least once this week. A couple will be too high to jump but I'm expecting a lot of AU talk from now until the polls come out. Big jump to 12ish I think.

would be nuts. With Hall out, Boogs should be able to win the next two as well. Should be a fun week

Reese is the laziest kid I have ever met. Some boog on the bunker lost his mind when I told everyone that. I was glad he went to bama.
yeah. I don't know if he's lazy or not, but I do remember some people arguing that he was better than Okeke. I'm just watching him now and he's unathletic and un skilled. He's just a doughy body out there. He sucks.

I think that's a product of his laziness, but he also benefited from playing in leagues that didn't have a ton of size.

I still think we won’t get the respect we deserve. I’ll say 16. “Can’t jump those uppity Tigers too much,” even if we have a top 10 record and resume. Longest winning streak. Leading a tough SEC. All the more advanced analytics are generally favorable. #6 RPI. One of three one-loss teams. We SHOULD be solidly in the top 10, but, again, I’m going to bet on just outside the top 15. Whatever. More motivation to prove doubters wrong.

Welcome back, bruh! Time to get your boog on!

Sounds about right. Might be a few guys that move us really high like in the top 10. Then there will be guys like Dickie V have us unranked. Meaningless though so agreed doesn’t bother me if they under rank us. All the metrics that matter come selection time have us in 1-2 seed range right now.

I’m fine with another week of disrespect TBH. I think this week sets up tough for us and I want us to keep playing with a chip on both shoulders

lol what a fuggin dope. Someone should ask him how many more wins we’d have if Barbee or Lebo was coaching this bunch.
Him defending Barbee paragraph after paragraph made me question if he was a family member of his. Although, Barbee never got a fair shot at auburn. He was a high profile cheater, and we didn’t let him cheat. Of course he was going to fail.

He would argue against Lebo but in favor of Barbee.

I’m biased because i worked for Jeff Lebo, but I think he was a vastly superior coach to Barbee. One of the better Xs and Os guys we’ve ever had. Maybe the best. But he was too clean. And then Barbee was forced to be clean. At least Lebo had a couple ok seasons, and one really good one (in Auburn terms—24 wins and NIT quarterfinals). Barbee was the worst in Auburn history, and that’s saying something.

I agree. The reason I know what he would say is that I argued with him a lot. auliferz or whatever his name is could never get past the fact that Lebo let Killingsworth transfer. I have friends who are big UNC fans and they had Lebo pegged as a guy who might end up being their next coach (back when we hired him). I don't want this to sound too negative towards AU, but I think if he had waited on a better job than AU his career would be in a much better place.

the greatest thing about basketball, is everyone gets a fair shot inside the top 40 or so teams to prove they are the best. Season rankings don't matter nearly as much as they do in football where the difference between being ranked 10 3/4 through the season or 15, would have massive implications. In BB it just doesn't matter much.

I always thought Lebo was pretty good. Think he struggled getting great PGs for some reason, and that held his teams back

If RZ is for or against something, you best bet your ass that the other side is correct. It's frightening how bad of a sports viewer he is. It's like he's watching another game altogether.
Isn’t he like a “famous” b-ball Coach or something? It’s kind of weird. I remember disagreeing with him one time and Archie kept on asking me if I knew who he was. And I was like no. And he said if I did, then I’d feel stupid for questioning his expertise

I think he knows former players and might know people in the program over the years as a strap-hanger. He is not a coach or anything like that. I've seen him at games before. He seems like a nice guy IRL but I will say he has a distinct pattern of who he will defend on boards and who he'll go after.

Lebo was a guy who had a chance to be a decent coach. Barbee was never gonna be. His work ethic was trash and he pretty much gave up as soon as he met any bumps in the road. He’s meant to be a lifelong assistant to someone like Cal, there to take care of the dirty work and also be the fall guy of ever needed.

One of the things I think Lebo was missing was that we were running a modern college basketball program. The types of players he was bringing in vs the ones Ellis had were pretty stark and different.
