OT: AUBURN BASKETBALL

Hopefully he comes back, but at least there are NO SANCTIONS. I don't think it's a coincidence that the Akingbola kid committed on the day that Bruce and AU got the ruling on Austin.
Hope you're right, and although this language is boilerplate stuff, it does concern me a bit: "The decision is based on currently available information from the school, applies only to the individual eligibility of Wiley and does not impact any future infractions action."

No shit. This story completely died. When the FBI thing broke, the whole narrative was like "this is just the beginning. The whole sport is dirty. Just wait till they raid NIKE."6 months later and nothing has happened except kids lost the ability to play, and I doubt any shoe companies or anyone gets in any significant trouble. what a dumb mess
It’s always the kids that get hit with them most. The adults almost always just disappear. The only reason Chuck is screwed is that it went beyond the NCAA and started with the feds

As per my duty I was looking up the appeal process. Says it usually takes about a week. Couldn’t find anything on how often they reduce the penalty.

As far as Danjel I guess we figure he’s out the year. The NCAA site says they almost always let kids regain eligibility at some point though.

I would like to remind everyone that Hoke claimed the NCAA cleared Wiley and Harvey said that was not true

Supposedly that Stretch kid is gonna reclassify and come in next year. Hopefully RS behind Austin, Mac and Horace.
Yeah, I don't think they'd have taken yet if he couldn't. There were rumors in December that he could've come in and played in january, so I'm sure he'll be eligible by the fall. I'm already counting on him being at AU in the summer

I'll take back the Horace comparison a little bit. Kid hits 3 in this clip and seems to have some decent offensive skill. Still mostly just a big, bouncy, long athlete. Doubt he contributes too much next season but he has a high ceiling for sure

Also, I encourage everyone to watch those highlights with the sound turned UP

much more fluid offensively than I expected...

also, can we shitcan Rod and hire the play by play guy from that clip?

He’s long and the few plays he makes are very pretty. He makes those few plays look easy.

I think that’s fools gold but that’s why he’s getting hyped up.

Some notes from AU super booster:

On our new stud:

Word on the street is he is a superior bball player at this stage in his life. Freak athlete, moves feet like a guard (played soccer all his life), uncanny shot blocking ability (timing and quick off the floor) and is a fantastic young man (4.0 student etc). He has much more offensive game than Horace does. Lastly he is strong and already weighs over 225.

High ceiling player who will contribute day one.

On the NCAA referencing crootin violations in the Austin ruling:

They solely relate to Chuck/FBI deal as he clearly spoke with her prior to Austin arrival. This has been known since day one of the FBI deal breaking.

In other words nothing new here.

I assume this Super booster is not Hoke's boy, but someone else?

Nice. Sounds like he’s got a real good chance to reclassify to the 2018 class. I’m a big fan of this kid already

If its Hooks, then that dude has never met an Auburn signee that wasn't the best player that we've ever signed.

Not saying that he's wrong here, just saying I tend to be skeptical when he's doing his EA.

From the lunatic board (PAM):

Austin Wiley and those close to him were caught by surprise Thursday when the NCAA said he would not be eligible to play again until next season, but they have a plan.

Auburn will appeal the NCAA’s decision, and that appeal is scheduled to be heard on Jan. 23. Should it be unsuccessful, Wiley’s plan is to remain in school, declare for the NBA draft but not hire an agent. If he projects as a first-round pick, he will likely go into the draft and his college career will be over. If he does not, he will then make a decision between returning to Auburn to play next season or going to Europe to play professionally.

According to the NCAA’s release announcing its decision, Auburn self-reported activity involving recruiting, extra benefits and agent-related activity. The extra benefits and agent-related activity relate to the charges against Person. It is uncertain what recruiting violations were reported. Auburn does not expect program-crippling sanctions, though there is never certainty in NCAA matters.

In any event, any NCAA action in that regard is far in the future.
