OT: AUBURN BASKETBALL

Undastand yore point. I'm juzt saying RARELY do GOOD kollege teemz ROTATE 11 guys. Generally you got 8 or 9 pretty good playaz and then 2 or 3 token white guyz that averaged 8 pointz a game at Veztavia or Muntgomery Academy or sumthang similar.
If STAPHA stayz, I wood not be serprized if sumbody like a DUNBAR and sumbody elze tranzferred out.
Ain't gotta klue wut Wiley will do but shirley peepel are telling him to STAY. That DAWG ain't reddy foe da NBA at all.

Agreed. We can't rotate 11 guys. We're going to have to pick the best 9 and roll with that. Usually when a team has a 9-man rotation, they still have 11-12 guys on the bench and can tap into that depth if an injury to a rotation guy happens, but those last 2-3 guys on the bench are freshmen who came in not necessarily expecting to play that year. Our situation is different because we might have as many as 10 upperclassmen and 2 sophomores who played a ton of minutes this year. So, finding 2-3 guys to sit and accept the role of just depth out of our current roster seems like an extremely difficult task, and it worries me that we may go into next season with the same type of depth as this year's team, which I think would be a problem.

Samir can play the 2 or 3 but will be primarily a 2 for us. It's time for Heron to go. #rodney
dang Rodney is stone cold but I love that he gives it straight up. This a weird feeling as a boog hoops fan wondering if we be better off next year without one of our best or if we have too many good players to have an ideal rotation.

My personal preference is to stack it with as close to 13 elite studs as possible and let the mins shake out how they will. Someone want to cry on the end of the bench no biggie when we blasting people.

I thank SAMIR iz definitely gunna help. If BRYCE or HARPA go in the SHITTA like thay did in the NCAA TERNEY, SAMIR kan probly help fill that void.
I don't agree wit ya on STAPHA. I thank heeez the bezt ALL AROUND playa on da teem. Heeez got a litta tuffness about him dat I like.

I think we lose 3 kids of the team. Kleim, Heron and one other kid. You'll see someone leave looking for more playing time. Not everyone likes playing on a 11 deep team.

I'll see if I can find out anything on Austin. A guy I work with talks to his dad. I don't think we'll hear anything on Austin for a while. He's going to apply for the draft and see his status. If he gets a first round grade, he should leave. The 2nd contracts are where the money is.

The thing with Heron is that he's not a good teammate. He's always been about himself and two years ago it was fine because we didn't have much talent and we weren't good but now the time has changed.
yeah I can see that. I still rather have him than not. Bruce will finally get a chance to really corch these kids ups with so many studs at his disposal. Can put anyone on the bench at any moment if they play selfish or lazy.

Another important thing is to be able to bring scholly players who aren't in the rotation at the end of the game. We had to play our 8-9 man rotation through the end of games because a 10-15 point lead can easily disappear with a bunch of chalkies out there.

Samir was also a HS PG and played some PG at VCU in his one year there. He'd be an emergency option behind Harper and Mitchell, which we really haven't had the last 2-3 years.

That's a much better option than Bryce being the emergency PG. That's not a good fit at all.

Things I want to see for 2018-2019
- Mitchell overall offensive game improved
- Brown to be used to spot up for 3's/drive. More action to get him open looks. Eliminate the off the bounce 3 unless it's one bounce to get set. He's got to stop thinking he's James Harden with the step backs. I know Bruce lets the play free, but he needs to make this one happen. Better for all involved.
- Harper more floaters/pullups and more efficient with them. He's got the 3 ball. He gets to the rim. I though teams stopped worrying about him anywhere between. Also be more of a setup man off penetration.
- Horace to keep working on that 15 footer. Stroke looks alright. Stop fading and knock those down and he's deadly.
And overall just more movement and slashing from our offense. We had moments, but we often got stuck pounding the ball and then forcing something. Clean that up, but it's going to take everyone doing work on their own games and trusting the plan a bit more.

Harper adding a nice floater would be huge.

I hate to be like this but I don't want Horace taking more shots. He is what he is. I guess if we lose Austin to the draft, then we need him to be more of a scoring threat but I don't think I will ever trust him to be a consistent scorer.

We definitely need more slashing. I think Samir will be a big part of that. Brown showed flashes of being able to do it, he is really quick. He just doesn't have the handles. I also think Mitchell can do it. If Malik would work on creatively finishing around the basket instead of trying to dunk everything, he could do it as well.

Mitchell is going to be a factor in that driving/slashing, I have no doubts.

Malik ain't gonna get there man. He's gonna get a charge for every 2 attacks. That's just who that dude is. I love him but he's crazy and you can't fix crazy.

You right. I just feel like his athleticism should be able to help us, but he will probably always be what he is.

Supposedly, Bruce and Leath are either meeting now or met earlier today. Hooks made some comments about thinking he will return unless something unexpected happens, but he also won't be comfortable until Leath announces it either.

Hooks also has some interesting things to say about Heron, Wiley, and others on the roster. Says Heron doesn't like school and wants to be done but won't sniff a draft pick. Says Wiley will almost exclusively come down to his evaluation. Teams may want to see him play a year in college to see how his body (legs/knees) hold up. Others might take a flyer because of his talent/potential. Very high on Samir. Thinks he should start over Heron if both are here and you're taking the best 5. Thinks Dunbar will lose the most PT, and he thinks the team as a group needs to decide if PT or doing something special is more important for next year. Mac isn't skilled enough for the 4.

I'm starting to warm to the idea of having Wiley but not Heron next year. Ideally, we'd have Heron too, but I think some here have made good points that we could likely replace his production with Purifoy. And we might get more efficiency out of both Purifoy and Doughty. Wiley would be absolutely massive to hold onto for year.

Love the Samir hype but Staph is still our best offensive player. He’s not a great defender but he’s serviceable and a good rebounder. Austin is the game changer though and I wouldn’t argue that chemistry could be better without Staph.

I’m still on the Danjel at the 4 train. Primarily a 3 but in particular situations he’s that 3rd option there over anyone else.

I hate saying this, because I loved when he committed and eventually signed.......but I'm not a Mustapha heron fan at all. I guess I thought a 5 star player would make better decisions than he does and would be more of a force. I hope he leaves.

I spoke to Hooks for about 15 minutes Friday about the hoops team as well. The most interesting thing we discussed was Pearl’s first year. My opinion on that year is he jumped the gun and added another year onto the rebuild. Hooks’ response was that Pearl thought the fan base wouldn’t stick with him unless he won immediately. I was shocked! Also, that Pearl is very competitive and can’t stand losing, and that was a problem for him to succumb to a rebuild. Hooks is a really down to earth guy, and just got fed up with being The laughingstock of the sec. Other than the coach, donors alike him are what keeps a program on top!

Him and Bryce piss me off to no end. Bryce will have an easier time getting shots next year, but it still amazes me he’s played basketball for so long and still can’t dribble.
