OT: Boogs Not Mens Softball

To maybe not give up an average of 13 runs a game when you have a pitching guru HC? Hey, at least we hit it well today.

Maybe you just don’t know shit about college baseball? Everybody here, that knows jack shit about college baseball, knew that IF we won Friday, we’d have to win a slugfest to win the series. But I’m sure you thought we’d win 3-2 today? Lo fvcking L.

How about only give up like 8 runs a game or something. I mean, Southern Miss and fuggin MAINE were able to do it (Less, actually).

Scored 23 on the weekend, seemed like an improvement to me. I didn't expect to take the series missing arguably our best pitcher. 20-15 Sunday will make all kind of stats look funny. I'm having a hard time understanding why any of our fans would be on Butch with a 20-4 start.

So how disappointed can you be with a 1-2 series at the #2 team in the country? Did you think we’d shut their bats down with our 1,4 and 5 starters this weekend? Jimmy needs to play but you seem more serious because of your football posts. What did you expect?
I’m not being serious in the least. I just enjoy piggybacking Jimmy’s long-standing Butch/Sunny troll.

Thought it was pretty evident.

Garrett Wade. Also sounds like Jack Owen’s bullpen yesterday went well with no pain. If he has another good pen on Wednesday, he will start Saturday at SCar.

I forgot that he only threw a few pitches on Sunday. Well I guess that's good. Really need him to be on and give us 5 or 6 innings to replenish the bullpen for this weekend. Having Jack back will be huge, hopefully he can come back where he left off.

If you have never gotten the chance to attend the CCC game in Montgomery, and you ha e the chance to, you should definitely check it out.

Great atmosphere

I do not care for Scheffler. I don’t like the way he frames pitches. I don’t like his arm. And I damn sure don’t like the way he blocks pitches with runners on base.

I like Scheffler. He makes good contact at the plate, he’s been really solid defensively behind the plate all season, and I think he’s been solid throwing base runners out. I do think he over-frames pitches from time to time, which might sometimes cost him some close pitches. But overall, I think he’s been a solid replacement for Brett Wright and much better than anything else we had on the roster.

Yeah I may like him even more as a hitter than Wright, because even though he doesn't have the power he makes solid contact a lot. BUT I have now seen him try to glove a bad pitch with a runner on 3rd that cost us a run on two separate occasions. He has 4 passed balls this season, but the two that made me the most angry were ruled wild pitches (one for Tanner against State and the one last night).

Tons better than the next best options!

Big road series win last weekend, overshadowed and deservedly so. On TV tonight against Tech. Another tough series this weekend against the Hawgs. 6-3 in the league right now. Great start.

First time I’ve ever seen 6-3 referred to as ‘great’

Not surprising since you aren’t a big baseball fan. Let me make it simple for you. 6-3 is a .66667 win percentage. If you do that in the Majors you’d win 108 games. That would be a great year by any metric. Doesn’t happen often. We also have played two series on the road which adds to it.

We’ve played one team on that list who is 5-4 in the league and barely squeezed out a win and got absolutely smoked in the other two. Our two series wins are against teams who a currently a combined 5-13 in conference. Again, not great.

Oh and we also managed to choke away a midweek to the worst team in the conference last week.

When you play two of your first three series in this league on the road, and go 6-3, that’s a great start this year. I think maybe you have a jaded opinion because Butch keeps making you look stupid. Here’s to more of that!

I thought Butch was supposed to be some sort of a pitching wizard. What a damn disaster

I mean, we gave up 40 runs in a 3 game series. Not optimal.

I understand that you’re upset after such an unmitigated disaster of a weekend, but there’s no need to be hurtful.

So pointing out that giving up 40 runs in 3 games isn’t very good is trolling now? Are you going on record that it is, in fact, good?

Agreed. Trying to spin a 40 run weekend into something positive is definitely right up his alley

Reminder that all this is just a "longstanding troll" that in Jimmy's words its"
Crazy that it still works all these years later
" How foolish all of you must feel for thinking all these posts are serious.

Our opponents having a combined 10-17 conference record is indeed a fact.

Wonder why their records are so bad?? We are 4th in the country in RPI. Fact. And it’s risen since SEC play started. Indeed another fact. I wonder how high we’d be if we hadn’t played such a weak schedule?

Not really sure. Don’t really trust the computers that much. What I do know is that we’re currently in danger of blowing yet another midweek tilt. That probably won’t help our computer rankings

You don't trust the computers that the selection committee uses? This is the best rice impersonation you've done yet.

Yeah, you probably know more than the computers. Don’t blame you.

FTR, did you say the same thing last week about losing a midweek game? Earlier comments lead me to believe you probably did. You were wrong then too.

The good thing for you is that if you say it long enough, you’ll get to claim to be right. Like last year...lol. We are gonna lose some this season too, and probably not win it all.

@DufnerFanBoy - heard anything about Owen? I know Kendall Rogers said over the weekend that Daniel Davis was still at least 3-4 weeks away. Getting Jack back would certainly help this bullpen.

@WDE_Tarp, he’s supposed to start Thursday night.

This was from Jason Caldwell right before today's game in Owen. Got me nervous he won't be able to go against Arkansas:

"Not great news. Looks like Jack Owen will have an MRI tomorrow just to check things out. He threw well in a bullpen on Thursday, but hasn't recovered like they hoped. Davis Daniel is still a few weeks away."

Edit: BMatt just said Owen will not be pitching this weekend.

Because I have had zero time to pay attention to beisbol with Bruce and the boys cutting into my work/home life already, someone tell me what our ideal weekend rotation would be and how long it should be till we have those arms healthy.
