Looked high & low and couldn’t find a thread. Not wanting to beat a dead horse, but I’m about to do it. I’ve got fiber optic now & thinking I can get this done with YouTube TV & Philo. The former gives me way more sports than I have now & the later is to cover the Good Wife whilst I enjoy my manhood programs. Right now I got sh!tty cable for around 60 bucks, and I can get the mentioned for 40+16. YouTube deal has iCloud for unlimited storage plus five viewables at the same time. Philo can be viewed three at a time & has some other unique features as well. I’ve had TiVo since it pretty much came out & now excited to go for the next great thing. Ordered 3 Roku boxes this afternoon to go with 3 smarts we already have. Seems crazy to have six TVS at $10 per/month. I’m dropping the hammer next week, so any advice is appreciated. Not too far in to trash it all & start all over at this point.

I love it. I've added a few apps/subscriptions like ESPN+ and BR Live for sports stuff I want to see and it adds to the bill but that stuff would have been even more via cable anyway. And once you get used to everything it's easier and simpler to watch old episodes on the app versus needing to DVR all of them. I can pull up the ESPN app right now and rewatch just about any AU game I want to. I can pull up the NBCSports app and replay a soccer match I missed this weekend. I binged the a few series on the Showtime app last month when I was home sick.

The only drawback I've seen is that I'm 10 seconds behind on live sporting events. Every once in awhile I'll check Twitter and see everyone going nuts and look up and it's just about to happen on the TV for me. But there is an easy solution to that problem.

the other positive...being able to take your streaming device with you wherever you go. We have 4 at the house and one rarely gets used. I pack it on some of my trips because that way if I'm in LA or Seattle and AU is playing on the SECNetwork I can just plug it in to my hotel/apartment TV and pull up my streaming app and watch the game like I was at home. Packed one tonight to take to the mountains this weekend as a matter of fact.

How much do all your subs cost combined, if you don’t me asking. DirectTV has been $60 + $11 for Netflix has me at $71 a month for everything I need.

I know DirecTV won’t remain that forever but just wondering if cord cutting is cheaper than getting the introductory rates on cable/satellite

To me it’s more about sticking it to these shitty cable providers. They’re vulchurs. Same with cell phone providers. I recently switched over to Straight Talk and have had literally zero issues for half the price.

Netflix/HboGo/ESPN ($25/month) have been enough to keep me entertained since IDGAS about watching live TV other than sports and I can usually find a way to see any events I care to see...

i can get on board with that. I've been shopping cell phone providers for a while. paying over $200 for two people to be on a cell phone is ridiculous to me. I'm looking at Cricket, but will look at Straight Talk too

So my DirecTVNOW sub + Netflix is the same as that. The relief is that I don’t have some weird introductory rate I have to fight to get back every 6-12 months. I don’t get 8 phone calls a year telling me they’ve added Audience Plus or something for free only to find out I have to cancel it or I get billed after 90 days. And if you want to drop it for 2 months and start back it’s 100x easier.

I also like that I keep my service through strong rains now. That’s a big plus

the part about them adding it for free and then having to cancel it later by calling back in chaps my nips worse than anything in the world

I have Straight Talk for $45 plus two $40 add-ons for the wife & youngest son. Unlimited everything thing & my company picks up $75/month which makes it even sweeter. That & this cord cutting deal is giving me a lot more & more importantly BETTER service than I would have ever imagined for much less money. Counting my many blessings I guess.

Straight Talk is the way to go if you DGAS what people think and already have a suitable phone. My bill went from $120/mo to >$60/mo and I have unlimited everything and kept my same number. It is a bit of a pain to get it set up initially but after that you’re good to go

so YouTube TV has jacked with my sports viewing by dropping Fox Sports South and Southeast in my viewing area so no I have to move to Hulu Live. does anyone on the @Greg use this service and what are your thoughts?

And a rich guy like you don’t even bitch about the $15/month they went up.

RIP

honestly, i put my account on "pause" after the SEC tournament was canceled and then not being able to watch los Bravos and the ATL United kinda killed my desire to pay any money. I really only had the service for my sports fix. i don't watch 90% of the non sports channels

Well my wonderful & I mean it in-laws finally got enough of this sorry arse cable & so I’ve got about four hours in putting Roku devices in for them. Also picking the best apps for the both of them inputting payment options. Told the MIL to call me with anything, & the first problem was them not being able to watch TVS in four different rooms 😊
