OT: GOLF

Duf daddy off to a solid start. Scores seem a little better this afternoon. From the little I’ve watched I don’t know how these guys are making such a mess. Wind is gusty but it’s not blowing that hard. Wide fairways. Greens aren’t out of control firm or fast. So early but DJ could run away with this thing at any moment.

Duf turned a 65 ballstriking day into a 70 with his putter... he legit hit the ball miles better tee to green than everyone else in the field

but the par putt he made on 18 was tougher than 5 closer putts he missed, so hopefully that leaves a good taste in his mouth heading into tomorrow’s round

wind supposed to be similar in the morning as it was this afternoon, then die way down for the afternoon, so he’ll need to grind it out again and hope Rose or Poulter don’t go 3-4 under tomorrow afternoon

someone in the afternoon group tomorrow is putting up the lowest round of the first 2 days

Sucks he’s got the yips. Needs to spend less time with Gus and more with Bruce get his mind right. Rest of his game is too classy to let the putter hold him back like that.

DJ always seems on another level when the course is tough but he’s also known to just fall apart on the weekend so we’ll see.

Pretty ridic DJ has a 4 shot lead playing on the wrong end of the draw. Poulter with a complete meltdown coming in yesterday. Rose looked like the guy that was gonna get it to a couple under but a weak finish. Him Stenson and Koepka I could see making a push but this is DJs if he keeps doing his thing.

Even as a Phil honk I’ve gotta gripe about the setup when Phil leads the field in fairways. Want to see these guys have to thrash it out of the fescue not play from the fairway all day.

Jesus Fox. Making a way bigger deal about this Phil thing than they need to. It has zero impact on the tournament. Move on

What a bitch comment. These guys just can’t deal with it when they can’t fire at every pin with no fear. When the greens aren’t perfectly smooth. I’m more appalled with this than Phil even though he probably should have been DQd.
Truth. Played this morning in hot ass weather and lumpy greens. Our four man scramble didn’t complain, and gutted out a 65. ZJ would have thrown shade at the fine folks at RTJ, no doubt.

Has no impact on the tourney but could easily have drawn a DQ. Pretty big deal when the second most popular golfer in the world does that anywhere, much less at a US Open.

Yeah my only gripe on the coverage was it seemed like Buck wouldn’t let it go. Guess he’s just doing what the production people tell him but he seemed much more offended than Zinger and all the players on the Fox crew.

Watching some of the golf channel stuff they all seem to think he should have been DQd and hard to disagree. I get a chuckle though when they start talking like somebody should just DQ themself to honor the game or whatever.

As far as the course yesterday I loved it. 15 was the only hole that got ridic. 18 was a little dicey. You just can’t be above the hole these guys all know that but it should be physically possible to get a ball to stop inside 5ft from about anywhere on the green. Still nowhere close to the debacle in 04.

I love it too. It’s nice to see these dudes have to struggle through a round like I do virtually every round. Hope the USGA makes it even worse today

Also gotta day I was impressed with DJ on the back yesterday. Easily could’ve melted like a popsicle but checked his ego, left the driver in the bag, and at least kept himself in contention...

The scores change people’s perception but this has been a great tourney so far and should be a great finish. I hope somebody wins it saving pars all day.

Maybe it’s just joe buck and the Fox coverage but I’m just not interested in this us open. Trying to watch but it’s just not holding me. May switch to the dark knight in 15

my god. Koepka's short game has been money on this back nine so far. Still think Fleetwood's gonna get in a playoff

DJs putting is a disaster. Outplayed Koepka tee to green since about the 4th hole but just bricking everything.
