Vandy is better in all sports, academics, and is located in a better city

Pretty much. I guess when you're dealing with mouth breathing football coaches things like chicken finger joints and waffle houses become a factor.
I assume that there is some truth to the idea that it is harder to keep kids eligible there if they are really dumb. Obviously sometimes it's just a cliche that good football players are idiots, but most of the time it is true. I also assume that Vandy is more concerned with maintaining their academic reputation, so they don't "play the game" so to speak like
I guess I'm trying to look at it like a regular job than a thing where I'm trying so hard to win a championship. I'd be cool winning 7 or so games a year, cashing checks, living in Nashville not dealing with the hyper competitive environment of somewhere that cares too much.
If Stanford isn’t have trouble getting kids qualified and fielding a top 15 team each year, there’s no reason Vandy couldn’t either. Bring the right coach in there with a silver tongue that’s both effective on the BOT/school administrators and recruits and you could easily field a dynamite team there.
Same goes for GT. That place is an absolute sleeping giant for the right coach and if the school gave a shit. So many rappers and celebrities in Atl that would be down to hang out on the field there and create excitement for the program. Just need a Pete Carrol type dude to orchestrate that

Would be interesting to see where Vandy would be right now if they could have held onto James Franklin. They could be the Stanford of the South in football no doubt in my mind.
Do they still not have an athletic department? If so, then I'd say that's a significant advantage to what yore walking into in Auburn...

We'd have Kirby, Gus would probably be moderately successful because there is no pressure at Vandy and the East would be even worse with Kirby in Auburn, and UGA would either still have Richt or maybe be even worse when they fired him and settled for someone like Bobo.
TL/DR We'd be a lot better off, because we wouldn't have Gus fvcking everything up
Meh. You can do okay on $3mil a year in Nashville. Keep yourself bowl eligible and upset a big boy every couple years and you've got job security. Definitely better than coaching in the most toxic village on the plains and answering to no less than a dozen wealthy lunatics and having to deal with Boog fans on the reg.

Gus would be fired by now unless Vandy ponied up some money for some recruiters. You can't win at Vandy without getting some talent, and Gus would convince zero kids to come to Vandy.

I was googling about Franklin apparently they offered him 10 yrs/ $50mi. That's real money right there. Sure your odds of winning that $500 Natty ring from Jostens is pretty low but the other benefits far outweigh that.
I know one job I would never ever want. Boog basketball coach. Nearly 100% of your bosses are racist. A good 40% of the fanbase is racist. Only about 5% of the fanbase has any clue what is going on during a basketball game. I really do feel for Bruce. Most of the fans are fats and they just sit there and chew on popcorn and sip on Coke the whole time.
Harsh but fair. You can tag a lot of that to any corch in Boogville but we are blessed to have BRUCE for now.
